Democrat Dick Durbin Calls on Government Agencies to Defy Trump’s DEI Ban

Senate Minority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) has called on federal government agencies to defy President Donald Trump’s executive order banning the use of Marxism-rooted “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) initiatives.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Durbin (D-IL) said “We should continue to encourage” government agencies to promote the racist and sexist ideology.

The call from Durbin to continue pushing DEI initiatives is in direct defiance of Trump’s order banning the practice.

“I want to ask you about the DEI decision,” host Andrea Mitchell said.

“Because that affects, it seems like everyone in government, and, by implication, the way it’s worded, it seems like it’s also a directive to universities, to corporations, to others around the country.”

In response, Durbin said:

“Well, there’s no doubt about it.

“It’s designed to discourage efforts to have diversity in the leadership of companies, as well as agencies of government.

“I happen to think that diversity is America’s strength.

“Obviously, the Trump administration sees it just the opposite.

“We should continue to encourage individuals and agencies and corporations to do the right thing anyway.”

As Slay News reported, Trump has signed an executive order banning the use of Marxism-based “equity” as a consideration for the hiring of federal workers.

Trump enforced the new rule while signing a flurry of executive orders shortly after he was sworn into office for his second term on Monday.

The order seeks to overhaul the federal hiring process and prioritize merit while selecting workers.

Trump’s order asserts that the government will now prioritize hiring based on skills, experience, and patriotism and not a person’s gender or race.

The executive order was one of the many signed by Trump to implement reform and reverse the policies put in place by former President Joe Biden.

Trump argues that people should be treated based on their character and merit, rather than the color of their skin or gender.

“This is a big deal. Merit,” Trump said as he signed the executive order.

“Our country’s going to be based on merit again, can you believe it?”
