A Florida doctor has been accused of harassing and bullying colleagues and patients over their vaccination status, even calling for unvaccinated Americans to be rounded up and executed.
Complaints have been filed against Dr. Daniel B. Case of the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida over his extremist views regarding vaccines.
At least one of them had a direct altercation with Dr. Case, who suggested medical fascism as the solution for those who choose not to be vaccinated.
On September 10, 2021, a Sarasota Memorial Hospital worker filed a complaint with hospital head Lorrie Liang about a negative encounter with Case.
Case had allegedly interrogated this individual about whether or not he or she had been vaccinated for Covid.
“I answered ‘no,’” the worker said in the complaint.
According to the complaint, Case then tried to bully her into getting the vaccine by arguing that Democrat President Joe Biden had “made it mandatory” and warning her that she could get fired.
“Then [Case] asked, ‘Are you going to get vaccinated? Biden made it mandatory last night.’
“I said, ‘No. I’m not.’
“He asked, ‘Why not? You can get terminated.’
“I replied ‘Because that’s my freedom of choice.’”
Case then allegedly responded to the colleague by stating that this person and all other unvaccinated people “are the reason why people are dying and why Covid is spreading.”
“So I asked him, ‘Really Dr. Case?? You really saying this stuff??!’
“Then he said, ‘When you guys get fired then we’ll have a party and Darwinism will do it’s [sic] work.’
“Then I said, ‘that’s [sic] sounds kind of Fascist of you to say such a thing! Are you a Fascist??’
“Then he said, ‘see that’s why they should take you guys to the firing line.’”
According to the complaint, Case was referring to the Nazis, who rounded up dissenters during WWII and sent them to the firing lines for execution.
The Florida Standard spoke to hospital employees who wish to remain anonymous, but provided copies of their complaints to hospital administrators.
The employee insisted there is no relationship between the employee and the doctor in which such comments could be considered a joke.
Under the leadership of Dr. Jonathan Hoffberger, the facility’s chief of staff, Sarasota Memorial Hospital has been the subject of multiple allegations of medical fascism.
A number of nurses at the hospital say that higher-ups compiled lists bearing the names of all unvaccinated staff members.
Those on the list had reportedly been marked as being in need of being subjected to a “re-education session.”
A nurse at the hospital alleges that the “re-education session,” which was led by other staff, sought to pressure them to get vaccinated.
A letter was also sent to staff outlining that unvaccinated workers must “isolate during meal times.”
Officials also planned to roll out a color-coded sticker system that would be implemented on employee badges to identify their vaccine status.
However, the sticker system was never implemented.
Other staff members claimed that Dr. Jonathan Hoffberger promotes a hostile work environment.
One physician stated that Hoffman, a cardiac surgeon, “yells at unvaccinated patients” and “refuses to perform open-heart surgery” on patients who haven’t received an mRNA shot.
Hoffberger had several social media posts criticizing those who wished to perform their “own research.”
“STOP DOING ‘YOUR OWN RESEARCH,'” a Facebook post reads, with an attached image promoting vaccination.
“Myth: ‘I’ve had COVID-19, so I don’t need to be vaccinated because I have antibodies,'” the photo says.
The hospital issued a statement in response to the complaint, claiming that the rpeorts are part of a “misinformation” campaign that allegedly seeks to “erode trust in a health system.”
Sarasota Memorial’s public relations manager, Kim Savage, said in the statement:
“Much of the misinformation being spread in the community is designed to erode trust in a health system that has taken care of this community for nearly a century.
“The allegations are unfounded, untrue, and undermine the award-winning patient care Sarasota Memorial and its dedicated and diligent physicians and staff are known for delivering.
“A review of how we responded to the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic demonstrates the successful care that SMH has provided Covid patients since 2020, with clinical outcomes that outperformed national and regional hospital benchmarks and saved thousands of additional lives.”
