Country music superstar Dolly Parton has broken her silence with a heartfelt message on the sudden passing of her close friend Naomi Judd.
In posts on her social media accounts, Parton said: “I was so shocked to hear about Naomi‘s passing.
“Naomi and I were close. We were very similar.
“We were the same age and both Capricorns.
“We love big hair, makeup, and music.
“I have always loved Ashley, Wynonna, and Naomi.
“They’ve always been like sisters to me.
“Congratulations Wynonna for you and your mom being inducted into the Hall of Fame yesterday.
“I am sorry I couldn’t be there but I can hear Naomi saying now, ‘Oh well, a day late and a Dolly short.’
“Just know that I will always love you.”

Naomi and Wynonna Judd were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday.
Ashley and Wynonna appeared at the ceremony and said through tears:
“I didn’t prepare anything tonight because I knew mom would probably talk the most,” Wynonna, 57, said.
“I’m gonna make this fast because my heart’s broken, and I feel so blessed.
“It’s a very strange dynamic, to be this broken and this blessed.”
“My mama loved you so much — and I’m sorry that she couldn’t hang on until today,” Ashley, 54, added.
From The New York Post:
Naomi Judd, one half of the iconic country music duo The Judds, reportedly died by suicide after years of struggling with mental illness.
Naomi’s daughters, Wynonna and Ashley, said they lost their mom to “the disease of mental illness” in a statement released Saturday.
On Monday, multiple sources told People that the 76-year-old country music icon had killed herself. No further details were provided.
The Post has reached out for comment from representatives of the singers.
Larry Strickland, Naomi’s husband of 32 years, had also previously made a statement. “Naomi Judd’s family request privacy during this heartbreaking time. No additional information will be released at this time,” he said.
