The devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria has killed thousands.
But there was one miracle in the wreckage as family members pulled a newborn baby out from the rubble after finding her alive and still tied by her umbilical cord to her mother.
The mom died in Monday’s massive quake, a relative said.
The infant is the sole survivor of her immediate family.
The rest were all killed when the quake flattened the family home in the town of Jindayris.
“We heard a voice while we were digging,” Khalil al-Suwadi said.
“We cleared the dust and found the baby with the umbilical cord intact so we cut it and my cousin took her to the hospital.”
More than 1,600 people were killed in Syria and more than 3,400 were killed in Turkey although those numbers will surely go up in the coming days.

“She is now stable,” pediatrician Hani Maarouf said of the newborn.
“She had several bruises and lacerations over all her body.
“She also arrived with hypothermia because of the harsh cold.
“We had to warm her up and administer calcium.”
The White Helmets called for international help:
“We appeal to all humanitarian organizations and international bodies to provide material support and assistance.
“Time is running out.
“Hundreds are still trapped under the rubble.
“Every second could mean saving a life,” he said.
According to Yahoo:
Other children were not so lucky. The United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF, said on Tuesday that the earthquake and aftershocks may have killed “thousands” of children.
The total death toll from the earthquake is now at more than 5,000 people, with at least 15,000 injured in Turkey and Syria, The Times of London reported.
According to the World Health Organization, up to 23 million people could be affected by the earthquake, citing the damage to civilian and health infrastructure.
