Elon Musk has issued an ultimatum to all Twitter employees today, giving staff two choices regarding their employment at his recently acquired social media company.
Musk the now-owner and CEO of Twitter, sent an email to all employees offering them a choice.
He told staff they can either be “extremely hardcore” and “work long hours at high intensity” or they can “leave the company.”
According to the memo, employees have until 5 pm Thursday to make their choice.
“A Fork in the Road,” Musk reportedly wrote.
“Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore.
“This will mean working long hours at high intensity.
“Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.
“Twitter will be much more engineering-driven.
“Those writing code will constitute the majority of our team and have the greatest sway.
“At its heart, Twitter is a software company so I think this makes sense.
“If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below.
“Anyone who has not done so by 5 pm ET tomorrow (Thursday) will receive three months of severance.
“Whatever decision you make thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful.”

“I have too much work on my plate, that’s for sure,” Musk said on Monday during an appearance at B20 Indonesia.
“I’m working the absolute most that I can work — morning to night, seven days a week.
“But, I think once Twitter is set on the right path, it will be much easier to manage than SpaceX or Tesla.”
