Elon Musk has revealed that Twitter’s legal team “called to complain” that he has violated the terms of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) by discussing the social media company’s spam bot data.
Musk gave a process update on his purchase of Twitter after putting the deal on hold while he investigates the fake account and “bot” problem on the platform.
Musk said he will test the bot problem before he completes his purchase: “To find out, my team will do a random sample of 100 followers of @twitter.
“I invite others to repeat the same process and see what they discover.
“Any sensible random sampling process is fine.
“If many people independently get similar results for % of fake/spam/duplicate accounts, that will be telling.
“I picked 100 as the sample size number because that is what Twitter uses to calculate <5% fake/spam/duplicate.”

After asking followers for suggestions on how to better investigate the issue, he later followed up with an update
“Twitter legal just called to complain that I violated their NDA by revealing the bot check sample size is 100!” he tweetd.
“This actually happened.”

While Musk announced that his takeover bid is currently “temporarily on hold” last week, he later assured his followers that he’s “Still committed to acquisition.”
He suggested that the data provided by Twitter on the number of fake accounts on the platform may not be accurate.
