Elon Musk to Speak at Trump’s Pre-Inauguration Rally

X boss Elon Musk is scheduled to deliver an address at President Donald Trump’s pre-inauguration rally.

Musk is slated to speak during Trump’s pre-inauguration celebrations on Sunday, according to a new report.

Musk is poised to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy once Trump takes office next week.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO will provide remarks during Trump’s “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” at the Capitol One Arena in Washington D.C., NBC News reports.

Other speakers on the agenda for the rally include members of Trump’s immediate family, Vice President-elect JD Vance, and independent reporter Megyn Kelly.

In the run-up to the 2024 election, Musk donated millions of dollars to Trump’s presidential campaign.

Musk and Trump have since formed and strong alliance and the tech billionaire has spoken at several official events with the incoming president.

During one of the biggest events of the 2024 cycle, Musk delivered remarks at a Trump campaign rally at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in October.

Musk is also expected to influence the incoming administration and is spearheading efforts to slash government spending under DOGE.

DOGE, which is not a government agency, aims to eliminate government spending and waste by gutting federal bureaucracy.

The department seeks to streamline efficiency and operations.

DOGE is seeking to cut $2 trillion from the federal government budget.

Musk and Ramaswamy aim to slash the budget through efforts to reduce wasteful spending, government programs, and the federal workforce.

Musk recently said eliminating $2 trillion from the federal budget is the “best-case outcome.”

He asserts that cutting at least $1 trillion is realistic.

Earlier this month, during an interview at the tech trade show CES in Las Vegas, Musk told political strategist Mark Penn:

“I think we’ll try for $2 trillion.

“I think that’s like the best-case outcome.

“But I do think that you kind of have to have some overage.

“I think if we try for $2 trillion, we’ve got a good shot at getting $1 [trillion].”

“And if we drop the budget deficit from $2 trillion to $1 trillion and kind of free up the economy to have additional growth such that the output of goods and services keeps pace with the increase in the money supply, then there will be no inflation,” he added.

“That, I think, would be an epic outcome.”

Musk added that the current “target-rich” government environment offers many ways to save money.

He argues that savings can be seen “if you look in any direction.”

“It’s like being in a room with targets,” he said.

“You could close your eyes and you can’t miss.

“There’s just a lot of waste in government because … especially the federal government … you just got a situation where the checks never bounce.

“Like they’ve got the infinite money computer.”

Musk said there are inherent characteristics that oppose saving money in the government.

“It’s very, very hard for people to care about spending someone else’s money,” Musk said.

“Actually, I know people in the government who do care about, just as a matter of principle, spending money effectively.

“And they try to do so, and they can’t.

“The system prevents them from doing so.”

Musk offered the example of officials being told to spend up to the amount for which they’ve been budgeted instead of spending less.

He notes that officials are encouraged to blow tax dollars “even on nonsense stuff.”

“Because if they don’t spend their budget, their budget gets reduced,” he said.

“So it’s actually sort of a perverse incentive to waste money.”

DOGE is expected to make recommendations to the White House after Trump is sworn in on January 20.
