Former top CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has done a major U-turn against the Democrats and warned the public that there’s no “greater risk to America” than four more years of President Joe Biden in the White House.
Cuomo, who is now a host on NewsNation after being fired in disgrace from CNN, weighed in on the 2024 election during an interview on Friday’s episode of the “PBD Podcast.”
In a major blow to Biden’s re-election campaign, Cuomo, whose family name is synonymous with the Democratic Party, is now openly considering voting for President Donald Trump next year.
During the podcast episode, Cuomo discussed a number of topics with host Patrick Bet-David.
Toward the end of the wide-ranging discussion, traditionally deep-blue Cuomo revealed that he now feels that a second Trump presidency wouldn’t be so bad.
He explained that he believes America was better off under Trump and warned that Biden is “absolutely not” the best person for POTUS.
Cuomo started off by first offering what little praise he could for Biden.
“Joe was nice when my father died,” Cuomo said.
“He said nice things to us. That’s nice.
“Do I think [Biden] is the best of us? No.
“Do I think he’s the best we can do as president? Absolutely not.
“Do I think he’s the best the Democrats can do? Hell, no.”
In response to those criticisms, podcast host Bet-David asked whether Cuomo would abstain from voting if 2024 is a rematch between Biden and Trump.
“If you get those two, though, you going to sit it out?” Bet-David asked.
“If it’s Biden-Trump…” Cuomo began.
“Look, for me, again, we survived a Trump administration.
“Would we survive another one? Yes.”
It was at this point that Cuomo started to drop the hammer on the Democrats and doom Biden’s hopes.
“I don’t think there’s any greater risk to America with him, than with Biden,” Cuomo matter-of-factly stated.
Considering Biden campaigned for the 2020 general election by claiming that Trump was a grave threat to democracy, Cuomo’s assessment is a hefty blow to the Democrat president.
“And for people who are now going to attack me, and say ‘What are you talking about? Trump is like this crazy man’ and look,” Cuomo explained.
“You know, as Patricks says, the data is the data.
“Nobody was trying to kill us when Trump was president, in a way that they’re not now.
“If anything, there’s more hostility.
“And you can have reasons for that, any way you want, I’m just saying, existentially, I’m not afraid of a Trump presidency.
“Existentially, I’m not afraid of another Biden presidency, because unlike many people in America, I believe that the country is much stronger than any individual leader.”
Bet-David then pressed Cuomo about who he would vote for.
“I don’t even know why, but you know, in terms of who I’m going to vote for … I would really have to see where we are at that moment in time,” Cuomo explained.
“So you’re open to a Trump vote?” Bet-David further pressed.
At this point, Cuomo launched into a word salad that appeared to be an effort to dodge the question.
However, based on the rest of his commentary during the interview, it was clear that Cuomo is open to voting for Trump, even if he’s not willing to commit to officially endorsing the 45th president, yet.
WATCH:
The comments from Cuomo come as rumors continue to swirl that the Democrats are plotting to ditch Biden and replace him on the 2024 ticket.
Some believe the Democrats are slowly preparing former First Lady Michelle Obama for the role.
Meanwhile, California Gov. Gavin Newsom appears to be preparing himself to replace Biden as the Democrat nominee going into 2024.
One thing is for sure, however, when prominent Democrats begin openly wondering if they should vote for Trump instead, it certainly spells doom for Biden’s campaign.
