Federal Judge Rejects Hunter Biden’s Request to Drop Tax Charges

A federal judge in Los Angeles has rejected a request from Democrat President Joe Biden’s son Hunter to drop the tax charges against him.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Marc Scarsi rejected Hunter Biden’s request to dismiss tax charges.

The charges accuse the president’s son of a four-year scheme to avoid paying $1.4 million in taxes.

Meanwhile, Hunter Biden has enjoyed living an extravagant lifestyle.

Among the claims that Scarsi dismissed in eight separate motions were that federal prosecutors supposedly caved to pressure from Republicans.

Hunter’s lawyers also tried to claim that the younger Biden had immunity from a previous plea deal he’d negotiated.

The move comes after Hunter’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, made his case before the judge for three hours.

Judge Scarsi said he would issue a ruling by April 17.

Hunter Biden, 54, has pleaded not guilty to failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019.

However, it is widely documented that Hunter Biden was allegedly spending millions of dollars on drugs, escorts, exotic cars, and other big-ticket items during the same period.

The trial is tentatively scheduled to begin June 20 with jury selection.

Hunter Biden is the first child of a sitting president to face criminal charges.

He also faces a separate criminal case in federal court in Delaware over his alleged purchase of a handgun while he was using illegal drugs.

He has pleaded not guilty and made similar arguments to dismiss the charges in that case.

The ruling from Scarsi comes after the judge ruled on separate arguments from Hunter Biden last week.

Last Wednesday, Scarsi stated that there is no evidence to suggest that the tax fraud charges against Hunter Biden are politically motivated.

As Slay News reported, Scarsi noted the lack of facts connecting the charges with efforts by congressional Republicans to probe the murky depths of the Biden family’s finances.

Democrats and their allies have claimed that the charges against Hunter have been fabricated to satisfy Republicans investigating the Bidens and allies of President Donald Trump.

However, Scarsi signaled in the Los Angeles hearing that defense arguments that President Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) was doing Trump’s bidding were not persuasive, according to CNN.

For Hunter Biden to avoid going to trial in June, the only option would be to make a deal with prosecutors.

However, the last plea deal made with Hunter Biden blew up in July in spectacular fashion.

The collapse of the previous deal triggered the chain of events that brought his attorneys to court last Wednesday in California.
