Gaza’s Only Planned Parenthood Clinic Destroyed in Israeli Airstrike

Planned Parenthood’s only abortion clinic in Gaza has been destroyed by an Israeli air strike, according to reports.

The Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association (PFPPA) clinic was destroyed after an Israeli airstrike hit an adjacent building.

The airstrike that impacted the PFPPA location in Gaza was fired on October 8 as the war between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas rages on.

Israel launched the strike on Gaza in response to Hamas’s terrorist attack, Life News first reported Thursday.

Hamas’s attack, launched at daybreak Saturday, has killed more than 1,000 people in Israel, including at least 25 Americans.

The facility was run by the PFPPA, a member association of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), according to its website.

The IPPF is a global network of abortion providers founded at the Third International Planned Parenthood Conference in 1952.

PFPPA executive director Ammal Awadallah criticized Israel for demolishing the clinic and its treatment of Gaza residents in a statement released by the IPPF announcing the site’s destruction.

The IPPF press release accuses Israel of an “occupation” in Gaza and waging a “blockade” for turning off services such as electricity and water as part of its effort to retrieve hostages being held by Hamas.

Hamas terrorists have reportedly murdered Israeli babies and left piles of butchered bodies on the streets of Israel after rounding up and slaughtering innocent civilians, according to firsthand witnesses.

Hamas killed more than 250 attendees at a Saturday music festival where concertgoers had arrived in Israel from nations around the world.

Hostages continue to be held in captivity by Hamas, and President Joe Biden on Tuesday confirmed American citizens are among the hostages.

The IPPF posted a video of the destroyed clinic Tuesday and asked for emergency donations to support the PFPPA.

In the IPPF video, the clinic is described as “our local clinic,” and the video says it was made “unusable” because of the air strike.

Abortions in Gaza are heavily restricted by the Hamas terrorist group that controls the territory.

Nonetheless, PFPPA clinics in Palestine have provided abortion services, according to its IPPF membership page and firsthand testimony given to the Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF).

“We have noticed changes in how abortion issues are tackled in Palestine,” former PFPPA executive director Amina Stavridis told SAAF in a January 2019 interview.

“PFPPA has become known for its expertise on this sensitive issue and because we have integrated abortion into gender and gender-based violence issues, we have noticed that it is no longer a taboo issue within the SRHR sector.”

The PFPPA launched an initiative in March 2022 to deliver services through mobile clinics, home visits, and telecommunication strategies, according to the 2022 IPPF financial report.

The IPPF report states the group secured $122 million of funding from governments and donors around the world.

The group spent nearly $125 million in 2022, creating a deficit of nearly $3 million not including pension losses and foreign exchange losses.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday warned Gaza residents to evacuate and move southwards ahead of a potential ground invasion of Gaza designed to defeat Hamas.

The terrorist group regularly uses Gazan civilians as human shields and its infrastructure is embedded within civilian neighborhoods, according to the IDF.
