Jacklyn Zeman, who played the role of Bobbie Spencer on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital,” died on Wednesday at the age of 70.

Frank Valentini, the soap opera’s executive producer, said on Twitter:

“On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman.

“Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work.

“Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew.

“We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey.”

A Twitter user said: “Heartbreaking.

“As a lifelong soap fan, this is a devastating loss.

“Years ago, I was so glued to her character Bobbie’s storylines, I wrote Jackie a fan letter!

“And she responded with a sweet, handwritten letter addressing what I wrote her.

“One of my all-time soap faves.”
