Georgia Republicans Move to Ban Hospitals from Discriminating Against Unvaxxed Patients

Republican lawmakers in Georgia have introduced new legislation that seeks to ban hospitals and doctors from discriminating against patients who have not received Covid “vaccines.”

The bold legislative effort seeks to outlaw discrimination against unvaccinated organ transplant recipients, taking direct aim at policies that prioritize Covid vaccination in life-or-death medical decisions.

The legislation, House Bill 522, prohibits hospitals and transplant centers from denying or delaying organ transplants based solely on a patient’s refusal to receive a Covid “vaccine.”

The move comes amid ongoing debates about medical ethics, patient autonomy, and the role of vaccination in critical healthcare decisions.

Under the proposed law, a person’s “vaccine” history would be added alongside disability status to Georgia’s existing anti-discrimination protections for transplant recipients.

This means that unvaccinated patients cannot be removed from organ waiting lists, pushed further down the queue, or barred from receiving a life-saving transplant purely because of their refusal to comply with vaccination protocols.

The bill’s supporters argue that medical decisions should be based on individual patient needs rather than sweeping public health mandates.

Beyond transplant eligibility, the legislation also extends protections to insurance coverage, ensuring that those who opt out of Covid vaccination cannot be denied health insurance based on their status.

This provision aims to prevent what lawmakers see as an overreach in penalizing individuals who have made personal medical choices.

If passed, Georgia would join a growing list of states pushing back against vaccine-related medical mandates.

It further fuels the national conversation about where public health policy ends and individual rights begin.

The bill directly challenges the medical establishment’s stance on vaccine prioritization.

The move sets the stage for a contentious debate between patient autonomy and evidence-based medical decision-making.

With lives hanging in the balance, HB 522 forces the healthcare system to confront the ethical dilemma of whether unvaccinated patients deserve equal access to scarce, life-saving organs.

Sponsors of the bill include Reps Joseph Gullet, Mitchell Scoggins, Karen Mathia, and Matthew Gambill, all Republicans.

Proponents of HB 522 argue that requiring vaccination as a condition for transplants is a discriminatory practice that undermines patient rights.

Opponents, meanwhile, insist that vaccination is a critical factor in transplant success and post-operative survival.

However, leading experts warn that “vaccines” do not protect patients from illness and actually place them at a higher risk.

Leading cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough warns that a person who recived a Covid mRNA “vaccine” is at greater risk of organ rejection.

In a statement regarding the Georgia bill, McCullough said:

“Transplant patients are at higher risk of COVID-19 adverse outcomes not because of immunosuppression but as a result of frailty.

“Routine care of acute COVID-19 relies upon immune suppression with steroids commonly used in transplant patients.

“The mRNA vaccines endlessly produce Spike and frame-shifted proteins, which stimulate autoimmunity and are likely to worsen the risks of transplant rejection and survival as shown in cornea and lung transplants thus far.

“This bill will not only bolster freedom of choice but is also destined to improve transplant outcomes by removing the threat of COVID-19 vaccination to the transplant procedure.”

The bill has emerged following recent reports of patients being denied life-saving treatments over their vaccination status.

As Slay News reported last month, a 54-year-old veteran from Ohio has been denied a life-saving heart transplant operation because he refused a Covid “vaccine.”

Ken Long was diagnosed with congestive heart failure nearly a year ago.

He was set to receive “the next heart that came in so long as his body was otherwise healthy,” his wife, Christina, told Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom.

When the tests came back, they showed “he was in perfect health other than a very sick heart.”

However, when Long was asked to sign consent forms, hospital staff told the family he would have to get a Covid “vaccine.”

Long immediately refused to take the injection.

The doctors responded by telling Long he would no longer receive the life-saving transplant.

Long’s story wasn’t isolated, however.

Early last month, Slay News reported that Cincinnati Children’s Hospital also refused to perform a life-saving heart transplant operation on a 12-year-old Indiana girl because she hasn’t received a Covid “vaccine.”

Defending the decision, hospital officials argued that they are “guided by science.”

Young Adaline Deal’s life now hangs in the balance as her family desperately seeks medical help for the child.

Brayton and Jeneen Deal adopted Adaline from China.

Adaline, who is a distant relative of Vice President JD Vance, was born with two heart conditions that now require a transplant.

However, she was denied the transplant because she was not vaccinated.

The mom said the family believes vaccines are unsafe.

The family said they asked for a religious exemption.

However, the hospital declined, citing its transplant policy.
