The American voters have had enough of the Dem Party and sent them a stinging rebuke last night in races across the country. In Rochester, New Hampshire the voters elected a Republican Mayor for the first time since 2005.
Paul Callaghan, a lieutenant with the Strafford County sheriff’s office, defeated Palana Hunt-Hawkins and Cassie Borne with 66% of the vote. Callaghan ended with 2,845 votes while Palana Hunt-Hawkins had 1,399 and Cassie Borne 158.
“I’m honored to continue my service to our great city as the next mayor of Rochester,” Callaghan said. “It is one of the greatest privileges of my life to continue to give back to the community that has given me so much. Together, we’ll move Rochester forward and keep our city a great place to live, work and raise a family. Now, let’s get to work.”
“I’m super proud of the race I ran and will be forever thankful to all of the people that believed in my vision for the city of Rochester,” Hunt-Hawkins said. She continued:
“To anyone who believed in my campaign and saw our city’s potential, please know that was all you — and it’s up to all of us to continue this fight for Rochester’s future.
“I will note, the level of hate I have received for being who I am — and specifically my trans identity — over this last week, illustrate the work left to do in changing people’s perception of trans and gender non-conforming identities.
“I am committed to continuing to be visible in hopes it helps others be accepted for their merits, and not discounted for their trans identity.”
New Hampshire GOP Executive Director Joe Sweeney celebrated the news saying:

Congratulations to Rochester, New Hampshire Mayor-Elect Paul Callaghan.
A huge victory and a Republican flip – the last time a Republican won was in 2003!
