Republican Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) has called for a vote on his “Freedom To Breathe Act” bill that seeks to ban mask mandates from returning.
The legislation would ensure federal bureaucracy agencies would be prohibited from mandating masks for the next 15 months.
Popular Twitter/X account “The Columbia Bugle” shared Vance’s call for a Unanimous Consent Request:
“All of us have lived through the failed experiment of mass mandatory masking,” Vance said of his bill.
“Today I want to ensure that we do not subject the American people to this tyranny again for the sake of nothing.
“It’s not just that masks according to randomized controlled studies do no good.
“It’s that they can actively cause harm.
“We know that a generation of school children have suffered significant speech and developmental disabilities because this country panicked instead of using its brain and force toddlers and small children to wear masks.
“We cannot return to the failed policies of the covid pandemic.
“Mandatory masking was a failure.
“It had costs for very little benefits and we shouldn’t repeat it.”

Democrat Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) immediately objected to Vance’s request, however.
The Columbia Bugle shared Vance’s press release on his intent to try to force a vote.
“Any floor objection to Senator Vance’s unanimous consent request would amount to a clear admission that Democrats intend to reimpose mask mandates in the near term,” the press release explains.

After Democrats blocked a vote on his bill, Vance responded:
“Freedom is fundamentally about respecting that you might have a different view than I do, respecting that, accepting it, and not using government mandates to force our fellow citizens to do exactly what we want them to do.”

As school is now back in session and folks move toward a new cold and flu season, it appears that mask mandates are in the works for some schools, hospitals, and Lionsgate as Vance shared.
This move is causing mounting concerns as another forced mask mandate may be in the works.
Vance has been speaking out against another mask mandate.
The senator is hoping to pass legislation that would ban federal bureaucracy, schools, or commercial airlines from mandating them.
In an op-ed for Fox News, Vance wrote, “We all know how this goes. It starts with mask mandates, then social distancing, and then forced lockdowns to ‘slow the spread.’
“None of it works, but it costs us dearly.
“It robbed us of our basic freedoms and shattered our national unity amid a crisis.
“We cannot let it happen again.”

Democrats seem to have no interest in even engaging in the topic let alone approving a ban on mask mandates.
Many have noted on social media that the objection to the legislation signals the Democrats’ plans for bringing back mask mandates, and possibly other restrictions, ahead of the 2024 election.
By objecting to this legislation, Democrats have shown that they plan to bring back mask mandates (at least) again.

As the critical election season nears, many fear Covid measures, riots, high gas prices, and even “climate lockdowns” may unfortunately be on the way.
