The Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has issued a warning to the Democrats that vast numbers of their base demographics are jumping ship and flipping to the GOP.
Abbott revealed that the Democratic Party is losing ground with Hispanic voters in Texas, especially among women.
The numbers spell more doom for the Democrats ahead of the midterm elections this year.
In Zapata County, Trump became the first Republican presidential nominee to win the county since 1920.
In neighboring Starr County, Biden won the county with 52 percent of the vote to Trump’s 47 percent but Hillary Clinton got 79 percent of the vote in 2016 to Trump’s 19 percent.
That is a big swing.
“The GOP is gaining among Texas Hispanics,” Abbott said.
“Women are leading the charge.
“49% of Texas Latinos oppose President Joe Biden’s border policies.
“An overwhelming majority of all Texans oppose Biden‘s open border policies.
“His policies are reckless and lawless. But Biden just doesn’t care.”
“For so long, people here just never had Republicans knocking on their doors and calling them the way we did in 2020.
“The majority of us are women that did it then and are doing it now because we feel it’s our responsibility to keep the American Dream alive,” said Mayra Flores, a candidate for a GOP nomination in a South Texas congressional seat.
“It’s unprecedented what we’re seeing because prior to 2020 we didn’t have this kind of support at all,” added Flores.
“I can only imagine how much more we’re going to be able to do with their support.”
Claudia Alcazar, chairwoman of the Starr County Republican Party, switched parties two years ago after being a Democrat her entire life.
She said:
“We went down the list of all my beliefs and at the end I was like, ‘Oh my God, I am a Republican. I just didn’t know it.’
“I was so used to being told and seeing myself as a Democrat.
“It’s like being used to drinking Coca Cola and then one day you taste Dr. Pepper and you’re like, ‘wow, I really like this one.’
“I truly shocked myself.
“And some of my family members.
“They’re not happy with me.
“We’ve finally united ourselves.
“We’re doing this because, as mothers and career women, we’re finally coming out and saying we’re part of this party and want to make sure our issues are paid attention to and heard.”
From Politico:
And the shift for Hispanic women didn’t just happen in Texas. Another analysis by Democratic voter data firm Catalist found that support for Democrats among Latinas in Nevada dropped by 11 points from 2016 to 2020, compared to Latino men, whose support declined by 6 points
From Breitbart:
Forty-nine percent of Texas Latinos oppose President Joe Biden’s border policies, according to a January 18-25 poll funded by the pro-migration Dallas Morning News.
Just 38 percent of the border-state Latinos support Biden’s border policies, which have invited at least 1.5 million migrants over the border and into Americans’ jobs, housing, schools, and communities.
The high support among Texas Latinos for pro-American policies is good news for the state’s Governor Greg Abbott.
He is facing election this year, and his strong border enforcement policy gets 45 percent support among Latinos.
That result is close to the state-wide support of 52 percent, according to the poll, conducted in both English and Spanish.
