Harvard Grad Snubs AG before Speech: ‘I Didn’t Want to Listen to Merrick Garland Talk about Himself for 30 Minutes’

A Harvard graduate snubbed a member of President Joe Biden’s administration and walked out of her graduation ceremony before Attorney General Merrick Garland’s commencement address on Sunday.

Speaking about the snub, Emma Heussner explained that she didn’t want to “listen to him talk about himself for thirty minutes.”

Can you blame her? Garland said: “Earlier in my career, I spent weeks in Oklahoma City investigating the bombing of a federal building.

“I saw – and I felt – how consequential an outpouring of volunteer services could be.

“Oklahomans lined up to offer care and comfort to those who were hurting – survivors and first responders, neighbors, and strangers alike.

“But it should not take a tragedy to prompt us to look for ways, that day in and day out, we can help those who need our help.

“There is one particular reason that makes my call to public service especially urgent for your generation.

“It is an urgency that should move each of you, regardless of the career you choose.

“It is the urgent need to defend democracy.”

“Both at home and abroad, we are seeing the many ways in which democracy is under threat,” Garland said.

Enter graduate Emma Heussner.

She couldn’t take it and shared a video (that quickly went viral) of herself walking out before Garland’s address with the caption:

“Just walked out of Harvard’s graduation because I didn’t want to listen to Merrick Garland talk about himself for 30 minutes.”

She later shut down her critics:

“I walked out of my own graduation and somehow you people found a way to get mad about it lmfao touch grass.”

According to Knowyourmeme:

“Touch Grass, or Touch Some Grass, is a popular online insult and alternative way of telling someone to “go outside,” implying they’re spending too much time online and it’s affecting their wellbeing.”
