CNN staffers are revolting over Don Lemon’s aggressive and disrespectful behavior toward women and are calling for him to be fired, according to reports.
Several sources from CNN reportedly told The New York Post that they Lemon “has got to go.”
As Slay News has reported, Lemon has been at the center of a mounting scandal over his recent anti-women comments and outbursts.
The embattled host issued a half-baked apology to his colleagues at CNN but it seems to have backfired.
Lemon said to staffers:
“I’m sorry I don’t mean to hurt anyone.
“I did not mean to offend anyone.
“What I said came out wrong and I wish I hadn’t said it.
“I believe women of any age can do anything they set their minds to.
“The people I am closest to in this organization are women.
“When I make a mistake. I own it and I own this one as well.
“I understand why you are upset and disappointed,” he said.
“I’m friends with women so I can’t be sexist.
“I was trying to make the point that no one’s age should define their ambition or potential for success and I was saying those comments to Nikki Haley.”
CNN sources told the Post the apology fell flat.
“He has got to go,” one CNN staffer reportedly told the newspaper.
“He is hurting the brand.
“Women aren’t even focused on the sexism — it’s the damage to CNN.
“Everyone is pissed about it.
“It makes us the story and it hurts us.
“He said he was sorry two minutes into the call.
“It was very self-centered and he lied.
“It was not his idea to apologize. They made him do it.”
“Really Don? That’s like saying I have black friends so I can’t be racist.
“Everyone is talking about the show for all the wrong reasons.
“This is not ‘The View.’ The show is a train wreck.
“It’s more than growing pains at this point. They aren’t vibing.
“Something needs to change.”
“People are just so over it,” the Post said.
“He owed an apology to his co-hosts and Nikki and the whole staff who busted their asses for weeks who can’t just do their jobs because he keeps making ridiculous headlines.”
