Bette Midler Melts Down over WV Gov’s Joke: ‘His Dog’s a** Would Make a Better Governor’

Bette Midler has fired back at West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R) after his message to the leftist Hollywood actress went viral.

During his televised State of the State address on Friday, the governor humiliated Midler by telling her to kiss his dog’s rear end.

Toward the end of his speech, Justice lifted up his dog, raised its backside in the air, and told Midler to “kiss her heinie!”

The actress and singer had been singled out by the 70-year-old Republican after she described the people of West Virginia as “poor, illiterate and strung out” in a tweet in December.

Video of the stunt quickly went viral, making news headlines around the world.

Midler responded in a furious tweet by suggesting a dog’s rear end would make a better governor than Justice.

She posted an image showing West Virginia’s rankings in health care, the economy, and infrastructure, showing the state’s overall rank in the country at 47th place.

“BTW, here are the state rankings of all the areas and agencies for which the so-called ‘Governor’ of WVA, #JimJustice, is responsible. Judging from these rankings, I’d say his dog’s a** would make a better Governor than him!” Midler said.

The 70-year-old Republican governor got even with Midler for insulting the people of his state by sending the message to her in his televised address.

“Babydog tells Bette Midler and all those out there: Kiss her heinie,” Justice said to a standing ovation.

Justice had spent his speech touting the state’s accomplishments saying “absolutely too many people doubted us.

“They never believed in West Virginia.

“hey told every bad joke in the world about us.”

West Virginia Dem Shawn Fluharty said: “The @WVGovernor brought his Babydog and pony show to the State of the State and pulled this stunt as some bold statement.

“It was nothing short of embarrassing and beneath the office.

“Jim Justice habitually lowers the bar of our state.

“They don’t laugh with us, but at us.”

Midler provoked the situation with a tweet in December that said: “What #JoeManchin, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible.

“He sold us out.

“He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia.

“Poor, illiterate and strung out.”

Following a severe backlash, Midler attempted to walk back the comments, saying:

“I apologize to the good people of WVA for my last outburst.

“I’m just seeing red; #JoeManchin and his whole family are a criminal enterprise.

“Is he really the best WV has to offer its own citizens?

“Surely there’s someone there who has the state’s interests at heart, not his own!”

Manchin said at the time: “They figured surely to God we can move one person.

“We surely can badger and beat one person up. Surely we can get enough protesters to make that person uncomfortable enough that they’ll just say, ‘OK I’ll vote for anything.

“Well, guess what? I’m from West Virginia.

“I’m not from where they’re from and they can just beat the living crap out of people and think they’ll be submissive, period.”
