Democrat President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden has just been indicted on federal gun charges.
Hunter Biden has been indicted on three federal firearms-related charges, according to a court filing.
It came after efforts to reach a plea deal failed.
The indictment marks the first-ever prosecution of a sitting president’s child.
The charges, issued in a Delaware federal court, are tied to the possession of a gun while using narcotics.
The first son will have to appear in court after a Delaware grand jury returned three charges against him, including two counts of false statements on his gun forms, and one of possessing a firearm while addicted to illicit drugs.
According to the indictment, Hunter lied about his drug use when he purchased a gun in 2018.

Biden has also been under investigation for his business dealings, with the special counsel overseeing the case having indicated charges of failure to pay taxes on time could be filed in Washington or in California, where he lives.
A gun possession charge against the 53-year-old had previously been part of a plea deal that also included guilty pleas to misdemeanor tax charges.
However, the agreement imploded during a court hearing in July when a judge raised questions about its unusual provisions.
U.S. Judge Maryellen Noreika expressed concern over the structure of the agreement and questioned the breadth of an immunity deal.
Noreika raised the alarm after noticing the deal included a hidden clause to give Hunter Biden blanket immunity for all future prosecutions.
The House GOP is preparing to impeach President Biden over his family’s shady foreign influence-peddling business.
Earlier this week, House Committee leaders officially launched an impeachment inquiry into Biden, as Slay News reported.
Hunter was indicted on three counts related to his 2018 purchase of a handgun in which he lied about not being a drug addict on the federal license form.
It is a shattering blow for President Biden, who has stood by his son.
Hunter is still under investigation by Special Counsel David Weiss for financial crimes.
According to NBC:
The case is being overseen by special counsel David Weiss, who also headed the investigation.
Weiss is a Trump appointee who was kept on as U.S. attorney for Delaware because of the sensitive and unique nature of the investigation into a president’s son by the Justice Department, a part of the executive branch headed by the president.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland named Weiss special counsel in August, as negotiations over the tax and gun charges collapsed.
According to ABC:
Prosecutors subsequently informed the court that a new round of negotiations had reached “an impasse,” and attorneys for Hunter Biden accused Weiss’ office of “reneging” on their agreement.
Hunter Biden’s legal team maintains that the pretrial diversion agreement, which was signed by prosecutors, remains in effect.
Weiss’ team said the probation officer never signed it, rendering it null and void.
This is a breaking news story.
