Republican House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has warned that Democrat President Joe Biden will soon face “accountability.”
Comer, the House GOP’s lead impeachment investigator, told Fox News that a report on Biden’s “many crimes” is forthcoming.
“I think that it’s no secret that Joe Biden’s committed many crimes, and I think that you’re going to see a report very soon.
“That report is imminent,” Comer said.
Republicans have cited a large body of circumstantial evidence to place Biden at the center of an influence peddling, bribery, and money laundering scheme.
The alleged scheme involves the president’s son Hunter Biden and clients in countries like China and Ukraine.
Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo pressed Comer on whether Republicans will formally recommend the prosecution of Joe Biden.
Similar steps were taken against President Biden’s brother and son last week.
Bartiromo listed crimes like money laundering and unregistered foreign lobbying.
She continued by asking Comer why Joe Biden has not been referred for prosecution.
“Where are the criminal referrals?” Bartiromo asked.
“If that’s all true, for FARA, for money laundering, for corruption, for influence peddling?”
Comer vowed that the criminal referrals for the president’s family members were just the “beginning” of a reckoning for the Bidens.
“We’re just beginning, Maria,” Comer said.
“Remember, this is an investigation of Joe Biden,” he noted.
“We’re going to do everything we can to hold Hunter Biden and all the different shady associates accountable, this is just the beginning.
“But the next step will be accountability for Joe Biden.”
While Hunter Biden is facing prosecution for tax and gun crimes, the Republican effort to impeach his father has stalled.
Comer emphasized that Joe Biden remains the focus of the GOP’s impeachment investigation.
“Joe Biden was the central figure in the family’s influence-peddling scheme,” Comer said.
“The tens of millions of dollars that the Bidens took in…
“All of this happened because Joe Biden was the central figure in selling ‘the brand’ and convincing the shady characters around the globe that his family was essentially speaking for him and go ahead and wire that money to those shell accounts.”
As Bartiromo pressed, Comer declined to directly say what “accountability” for Joe Biden looks like.
However, he teased the “imminent” release of a report that will likely spell doom for the Bidens.
Comer concluded:
“That’ll probably be an interim report that updates everyone on the crimes that that Biden and his administration have committed throughout this investigation and through the years of the Obama-Biden Administration.”
