JD Vance Checkmates Merrick Garland over Trump Indictment: ‘We Will Grind His Department to a Halt’

Republican Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) has reached his limit with Democrat President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland for weaponizing the taxpayer-funded Justice Department against their political enemies.

The senator fired back and warned Biden and Garland he will put a hold on all DOJ nominees while they pursue the politically motivated prosecution of President Donald Trump.

Vance said:

“If Merrick Garland wants to use these officials to harass Joe Biden’s political opponents, we will grind his department to a halt.

“Until Merrick Garland stops using his agency to harass Joe Biden’s political opponents, I will hold all DoJ nominees.

Donald Trump Jr. said: “JD Vance is one of the few Republicans in the US Senate who isn’t afraid to stand up to Biden, Garland, and the radical left.”

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley also weighed in on Trump’s indictment:

“Trump has now pleaded not guilty to all 37 counts.

“The Trump team is indicating that it will challenge the use of the Espionage Act.

“As stated last week, I am skeptical that such an attack would succeed given prior cases.

“Yet, even if successful, it would still leave six counts.

“The most important aspect of these initial challenges may be the delay that they will cause.

“Smith wants a speedy trial for a reason, but even if he can get through these challenges, Trump’s litigation schedule may make a pre-election trial even more difficult.

“There is an ironic element to the pile-on in these cases.

“With cases in New York (2), Miami, and one expected in Georgia, Trump’s dance card is filling up fast.

“While federal cases are often given priority, the multiple fronts could reduce the window for the federal trial.

“We’re also meant to not think about the fact that the Biden Administration is charging the leading candidate opposing him in the upcoming election.

“This indictment has merit, but the Justice Department lost the right to expect trust from the citizens years ago — long before the damning Inspector General’s Report and the recent report of Special Counsel John Durham.

“To make matters worse, the same suspects have surfaced to celebrate Trump’s expected demise — and remind the public of the perceived double standard in Washington.

“Peter Strzok, the FBI special agent who was fired over his anti-Trump bias in the Russian collusion investigation, cheered the indictment by tweeting a photo of handcuffs with Trump’s image.

“Strzok seems to think that it is a good thing for Smith to remind everyone of how he promised his colleague and lover Lisa Page that she did not have to worry about Trump being elected because they had an ‘insurance policy’ to ‘stop it.’

“Hillary Clinton went on social media to hawk her line of merchandise mocking the case against her for storing classified material on her personal server and then destroying tens of thousands of emails sought by the Congress.

“She sent out a picture mocking Trump while wearing her ‘But Her Emails’ hat.

“With millions of Americans wondering why Trump is being charged but Clinton was given a pass, Clinton decided to do a victory lap.

“And hey, why not: James Comey is back.

“It was Comey who declined to prosecute Clinton despite finding that she violated federal rules and handled classified material ‘carelessly.’

“He then launched a Russian collusion investigation that Durham found lacked minimal support against Trump.”
