Democrat President Joe Biden suspects advisers to Kamala Harris were sabotaging his search for a Vice President and thought they were behind the avalanche of negative press coverage that sunk her rivals.
This scoop comes from a new book by Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns called “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future.”
According to the book, “Even Joe Biden wondered aloud: Was Harris’s team driving this?”
“Biden was startled by some of the intra-state factional attacks on Harris by her fellow Democrats, including members of the state’s large congressional delegation,” the authors wrote.
According to The Washington Examiner: “Harris’s team was known for circulating blistering opposition research on other candidates during the primary contest, driving suspicion to the top that it was behind attempts to sabotage the California senator’s rivals, according to Martin and Burns in This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future.
“California Rep. Karen Bass was pressed to answer for her warm remembrance of Fidel Castro and praise for the Church of Scientology as statements and videos circulated in news articles and on social media.
“Aides to Susan Rice, a White House national security adviser to former President Barack Obama, learned of a dossier that detailed criticism of her tough management style.”
Other candidates for Kamala’s job were: Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif., Rep. Val Demmings, D-Fla., New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Jill Biden was against Kamala. There are millions of people in the United States, why do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe,” she says in the book.
Ron Klain, White House chief of staff, says in the book: “Yes, Harris had attacked Biden more harshly than any other major candidate in the Democratic primaries.
“Yes, the Biden family had seen it as a smear and a betrayal.”
According to the book, Klain told Biden Harris should be the pick:
“Choosing Harris will show people that you are magnanimous and forgiving, It will show the country just what a unifying leader you can be.”
“Stacey Abrams fought hard to win real consideration but never overcame the experience issue” the book says about another possible pick.
“He asked me to sell him on vice president: ‘Why should you be the vice president?’” Lujan Grisham said Biden asked her during the vetting process.
“I didn’t ask to be vice president,” she told Biden.
“You asked for me to be vetted — you tell me why you think I would make a good vice president. This was not my idea.”
First lady Jill Biden expressed frustration that Kamala Harris was the top choice for the vice presidential slot, according to an upcoming book from two New York Times reporters. https://t.co/1pN2c5O2u0
