A shooter opened fire at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, leaving a 5-year-old child in critical condition.
Fox News reports that the shooting broke out just before 2 p.m.
According to the outlet, was “around the time that the Spanish language church service was scheduled to start.”
The chief suspect is a woman who is reported to be around 30 to 35 years of age.
Authorities identified the shooter as Genesse Ivonne Moreno – a transgender activist who previously used the name Jeffrey Escalante Moreno.
Moreno, who is believed to have been transgender, was accompanied by a 5-year-old child for whom she was the biological mother.
The child and another 57-year-old man were the only people injured in the shooting.
The incident was quickly stopped by armed off-duty police officers who killed the suspect.
Houston Police Department (HPD) Chief Troy Finner has provided details about the shooting.
Finner said that a woman essentially walked into the church and began shooting.

The Washington Examiner reports:
The woman, about 30-35 years of age, walked into the church’s property shortly before 2 p.m., accompanied by a child at about the age of 5, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner told reporters.
The woman reportedly had a long rifle, wore a trench coat, and had a backpack on, and she began shooting, causing panic and a heavy police response.
In response, Finner said that two off-duty police officers opened fire on the suspect, killing her.
Finner added that, in the course of doing so, the off-duty police officers struck two other individuals.
One of the individuals was the 5-year-old child whom the woman brought with her.
The unidentified child, at the time of this writing, is reported to be in critical condition at the hospital.
The child was shot in the head and is not expected to survive.
The second person whom the off-duty police officers shot is a 57-year-old male who is not believed to have been involved in the shooting.
The unidentified male is reported to have been shot in the leg, and it appears that he is likely to survive his injuries.
However, Houston police received criticism for agonizing over the culprit’s correct pronouns.
During a press conference, Houston PD announced:
“She’d utilized both male and female names, but through all of our investigation to this point, talking with individuals, interviews, documents, Houston Police Department reports she has been identified this entire time as female – she her – and so we are identifying her as Genesse Moreno – Hispanic female.”

Moreno, a migrant from El Salvador, also reportedly had written the words “Free Palestine” on her AR-15, although authorities later clarified that the word just said “Palestine.”
The pro-Hamas shooter, who had a long criminal record, entered the church wearing a long rifle, a backpack, and a trench coat.
Anti-Semitic writings were also found inside the vehicle Moreno drove to the church.
Moreno has a long criminal history including charges of assault, weapons, marijuana possession, and forgery charges stretching back to 2005.
She also has a history of schizophrenia and mental illness, as well as harming her own child twice.
Nevertheless, Moreno was still freely roaming the streets.
Some respondents on X also questioned why Moreno’s race was also apparently recorded by authorities as being “white.”

Following the incident, Osteen released a statement on the matter.
Fox reports that Osteen “thanked law enforcement,” said that he was “devastated” by the shooting, and concluded that “there are forces of evil, but the forces that are for us, the forces of God, are stronger than that.”
At the time of this writing, Moreno’s exact motive for the shooting remains unknown.
It has been reported that, before opening fire, the woman claimed that she had a bomb.
It is also reported that she sprayed “some type of substance” on the ground.
The bomb claim turned out to be false, and the substance has yet to be identified.
Unsurprisingly, the attack on the Christian church quickly dropped out of the corporate media news cycle once the shooter was identified as a radical leftist.
