Jussie Smollett Moved from Psych Ward to Cell In Cook County Jail

Disgraced Hollywood actor Jussie Smollett has been moved out of the psychiatric ward and into a regular cell at the notorious Cook County Jail.

Smollett has been complaining about being jailed after being convicted by a court of law on multiple felony charges.

The convicted felon’s legal team has filed an emergency motion to get his release while celebrities and Smollett’s family members demand he is freed, despite being found guilty of his crimes.

The judge is due to make a decision on the motion today.

“So I just got to see him,” Jocqui Smollett, Jussie’s brother, said on Instagram.

“Thank you so much for the support, all the hashtag #FreeJussie, it’s working.

“He’s now been moved to a new jail cell out of the psych ward that has a bed.”

“Before he was sleeping on a restrained bed and now he’s been moved to a jail cell that actually has a bed, so thank you so much.

“That’s really because of all the #FreeJussie that’s been going on.

“It’s all the pressure we’re applying on Cook County and Cook County Jail.

“Unfortunately, Cook County doesn’t really move until they get bad publicity and so we have to just keep applying pressure, y’all.

“So keep reposting with #FreeJussie. Keep continuing to call Cook County Jail checking in on him and keep saying that you believe he should be free.”

The Cook County Sheriff’s office said:

“Smollett was never restrained to a bed or anything else in the cell.

“These protocols are routinely used for individuals ordered into protective custody who may potentially be at risk of harm due to the nature of their charges, their profession, or their noteworthy status.

“The safety and security of all detained individuals, including Mr. Smollett, is the Sheriff’s Office’s highest priority.

“Smollett is in an area frequently utilized for individuals requiring a high level of supervision and care for mental health needs but the unit is also sometimes used solely for security reasons due to the enhanced monitoring that can occur in this setting.

“It would be inaccurate and irresponsible to make any assumption about his mental or medical condition based on where he is currently housed,” the office said.
