Kamala Harris Holding ‘Emergency Calls’ with Top Democrat Donors

As speculation mounts that President Joe Biden’s days are now numbered, VP Kamala Harris has reportedly been holding “emergency calls” with top Democrat donors.

As Slay News reported earlier, multiple reports are now suggesting that Biden is planning to drop his re-election bid.

Insiders claim Biden could drop out as early as this weekend.

As it currently stands, until other candidates emerge, Harris is the most likely replacement for Biden on the Democrat ticket.

Should Harris take the role, Democrats would then be vying to run as her running mate.

Harris’s main advantage over other possible replacements would be that she can take advantage of Biden’s fundraising haul.

As it becomes increasingly likely that Harris will be facing off against President Donald Trump in November, Biden’s VP is now speaking directly with megadonors.

The New York Times reported that the plan to have Harris speak to the donors happened on “short notice.”

The report noted that many in the party now want her to be the nominee against Trump.

The Times said it was unclear whether she would look to calm them down or if she could take things in a different direction to suit her own political interests.

Top Democrat donor Reid Hoffman encouraged other megadonors to join the call.

Hoffman, the anti-Trump billionaire who visited Jeffrey Epstein’s “Pedophile Island,” told donors they are in a “rapidly evolving environment.”

“With the stakes as high as they are this cycle, we have to remain focused on the critical work that needs to be done to protect our democracy,” he added.

Hoffman said that the meeting would “discuss urgent, emerging needs”.

The news comes as billionaire Silicon Valley venture capitalist Michael Moritz said that he will not give any more money to Democrats this cycle if Biden remains the nominee.

Moritz has given nearly $8 million to pro-Biden and anti-Trump political action committees thus far during the 2024 cycle.

“Sadly, President Biden has a choice — vanity or virtue,” he said in a statement to The NY Times.

“He can either condemn the country to dark and cruel times or heed the voice of Father Time.

“The clock has run out.”

“I would vote for Biden, but I would not give another penny to any fund-raising appeals from Democrats,” he added.

Major Democrat donors have informed the pro-Biden political action committee Future Forward earlier this month that they will freeze $90 million in donations if the president remains in the presidential race.

Meanwhile, another five House Democrats joined the growing calls for President Joe Biden to step aside and drop out of the presidential election.

On Friday, four Democrat congressional lawmakers issued a joint statement urging Biden to “pass the torch to a new generation of Democratic leaders.”

The statement was signed by Reps.:

  • Jared Huffman (D-CA)
  • Marc Veasey (D-TX)
  • Chuy Garcia (D-IL)
  • Marc Pocan (D-WI)

The lawmakers wrote:

“Mr. President, with great admiration for you personally, sincere respect for your decades of public service and patriotic leadership, and deep appreciation for everything we have accomplished together during your presidency, it is now time for you to pass the torch to a new generation of Democratic leaders.

“We must defeat Donald Trump to save our democracy, protect our alliances and the rules-based international order, and continue building on the strong foundation you have established over the past four years.

“At this point, however, we must face the reality that widespread public concerns about your age and fitness are jeopardizing what should be a winning campaign.

“These perceptions may not be fair, but they have hardened in the aftermath of last month’s debate and are now unlikely to change.

“We believe the most responsible and patriotic thing you can do in this moment is to step aside as our nominee while continuing to lead our party from the White House.”

A fifth House Democrat, Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL) separately urged Biden to drop out in an op-ed for the Chicago Tribune.

“It’s time for Joe Biden to pass the torch,” Casten wrote.
