Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris repeatedly refused to admit her failed open border policies were a “mistake” during a new interview.
Harris was interviewed during a special election episode of CBS News’s “60 Minutes” that aired on Monday night.
However, Vice President Harris struggled to answer questions about her disastrous decision to “flood” America with millions of illegal aliens.
Harris faced questions about her record in dealing with security at the southern border.
In the early days of the administration, President Joe Biden assigned Harris the role of “border czar.”
Host Bill Whitaker noted that Harris has recently flip-flopped on her illegal immigration stances.
After launching her presidential campaign, Harris started claiming to be tough on illegal immigration – a top issue among voters.
However, she had previously shown strong support for unrestricted illegal border crossings.
“If that’s the right answer now, why didn’t your administration take those steps in 2021?” Whitaker asked.
Harris blamed Congress for the border crisis that unfolded under the Biden-Harris administration.
Yet, President Donald Trump secured the border without congressional help.
“But there was a historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration,” Whitaker said.
“As a matter of fact, arrivals quadrupled from the last year of President Trump.
“Was it a mistake to loosen the immigration policies as much as you did?” he asked.
Harris responded: “It’s a longstanding problem.
“And solutions are at hand.
“And from day one, literally, we have been offering solutions.”
“What I was asking was, was it a mistake to kind of allow that flood to happen in the first place?” Whitaker pressed.
Harris again refused to answer the question.
Instead, she claimed that she proposed policies that fix the problem.
However, neither Biden nor Harris proposed any such policies.
In fact, many experts warned that the border bill she supported would actually make the border crisis worse.
