Kansas City Chief fans stepped in to belt out the national anthem after the singer experienced technical issues with the microphone.
The crowd’s performance quickly went viral on social media.
SI reported, “As the National Anthem began, it was clear that Ashanti’s microphone was not functioning properly, cutting in and out as she progressed through the anthem.
“The microphone issues led to an unexpected beautiful moment, as the Chiefs faithful began belting out the National Anthem, assisting Ashanti as her microphone faltered.”
CBS reporter Matt Reynoldson said:
“Arrowhead having mic issues with Ashanti and making up for it with the entire crowd belting the national anthem is pretty cool.”
Don’t think I’ve ever heard a stadium crowd sing a long to the national anthem this loudly before pic.twitter.com/42SNXVPp9N

I feel so bad @ashanti had to deal with microphone issues during the National Anthem. ????
But, the crowd in KC understood the assignment and sang along. #AFCChampionship #CINvsKC #NFL pic.twitter.com/uG0pj9ajN5
