White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was caught in a lie when she falsely claimed during a press briefing that the majority of Americans agree with President Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon for his criminal son Hunter.
Jean-Pierre came under fire from reporters who asked if she would apologize for repeatedly claiming that Biden wouldn’t pardon his son.
However, rather than admit to the mistake, the gaslighting press secretary made false claims about the results of a recent poll.
“There was a poll,” Jean-Pierre told reporters grilling her about the pardon.
“A U.S. Gov. poll that came out, that some of you all reported on it, and it said 64% of the American people agreed with the pardon.
“64 percent of the American people,” she reiterated.
“So, we get a sense of where the American people are on this.
“Obviously, it’s one poll, but it gives you a little bit of insight.
“64% is nothing to sneeze at,” Jean-Pierre asserted, according to the press briefing’s transcript.

However, this claim was false and a gross misrepresentation of the poll.
The YouGov poll she referenced found that 64% of Democrats support the pardon, not “64% of the American people.”
Only 34% of Americans approve of Biden pardoning his son for all offenses, including crimes he has not been accused of yet.
The poll found that 17% of Americans “strongly approve” of the pardon, with another 17% of Americans “somewhat approve” of the president’s action, meaning that 34% of Americans approved, not 64%.
It also showed that 50% of Americans “strongly disapprove” or “somewhat disapprove” of the pardon.
15% of Americans were unsure of their position.
The White House later claimed that the press secretary meant to say 64% of *Democrats* support the president’s pardon, not Americans.
However, Jean-Pierre has refused to issue a correction or apologize after repeatedly misstating the poll results.
Another poll conducted by JL Partners found that 52% of Americans disapproved of the pardon, according to the Daily Mail.
It found that only 29% supported Biden’s decision.
