White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has fired back at the “pitiful” Democrat congressman who falsely accused her of being a “fake Christian.”
Leavitt was pushing back against comments made by Rep. Dave Min (D-CA).
As Slay News previously reported, Min mocked her Christian beliefs on social media.
In an interview with the New York Post on Saturday, Leavitt addressed Min’s remarks.
While shredding the California Democrat, Leavitt also reaffirmed the importance of her faith.
The exchange began after Leavitt corrected reports regarding a federal funding freeze on January 29.
She stated that the freeze remained in place.
The administration had rescinded an Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memo to clarify a court’s injunction.
“This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze,” Leavitt said.
“It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo.
“Why? To end any confusion created by the court’s injunction.
“The president’s EOs on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.”
Min, however, accused Leavitt of being dishonest and referenced the Bible in his criticism.
“Thou shalt not bear false witness,” Min wrote on X.
“Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is a fake Christian, like so many in the Golden Calf Administration.”

Speaking to the New York Post, Leavitt dismissed Min’s statement.
“I think it’s pitiful for an elected member of Congress to say that about a woman who he’s never even met,” she said.
Leavitt also spoke about her faith, making it clear that it is central to her life.
“My Christian faith is a huge part of my life,” she said.
“My faith, my marriage, my family life — it’s everything to me.”
The exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between Democrats and the Trump administration particularly on issues related to faith and political discourse.
While Leavitt addressed the remarks directly, she did not engage further with Min’s accusations.
Min, who represents California’s 47th Congressional District, has not issued any further statements in response to Leavitt’s comments.
26-year-old Leavitt is the first millennial to serve as White House press secretary.
She previously worked as the spokesperson for President Trump’s 2024 campaign before taking on her current role.
The White House has not commented on Min’s remarks, however.
Meanwhile, Leavitt continues to serve as the administration’s primary media liaison.
