Kathy Griffin Gets Last Laugh on CNN: ‘Sooooo, I’m Not Doing New Years Eve on CNN+ with Chris Wallace?’

The spectacular rise and fall of CNN Plus, the streaming service CNN promised was a game-changer for the media industry but was a flop instead, has given the chance to those wronged by CNN over the years to get even with the network.

CNN has made many enemies over the years. Some warranted and some not. The stars of CNN have publicly come out and admonished people for kicking them when they are down forgetting that CNN has been doing that for years. CNN plays in the media space and they dish it out so they should be able to take it.

“I defy you to find any reasonable person who ever believed that viewers would pay extra money for the dregs of CNN when it was competing for their wallets with Netflix and Disney Plus,” a former CNN producer said. “Do you want to watch ‘The Mandalorian’ or extra Brian Stelter?”

Many others offered jokes at CNN and Chris Wallace’s expense because he was, for better or worse, the face of the network.

Fox News star Greg Gutfeld has found plenty of material in the debacle. He joked:

“BLM has done to black people what Chris Wallace has done to CNN+. Entice them with a promise and then ditch them on the side of the road.”

“A lot of these solutions that are coming from the left are unreliable, whether it’s solar panels or windmills. I mean look at CNN+, how much money they invested in wind power by hiring Chris Wallace.”

“I just looked out at Sixth Avenue and who did I see just hanging out in front of a tavern? None other than, guess…Chris Wallace.”

Former President Donald Trump said:

“Congratulations to CNN+ on their decision to immediately FOLD for a lack of ratings, or viewers in any way, shape, or form.

“It was like an empty desert out there despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars and the hiring of low-rated Chris Wallace, a man who tried so hard to be his father, Mike, but lacked the talent and whatever else is necessary to be a star.

But it was Kathy Griffin who got the most satisfying last laugh on CNN. Griffin was dropped from hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve show amid the fallout from the Trump head photo shoot and saw some supposedly good friends like Anderson Cooper go full fraud and desert her.

She was hurt by the backlash, but as a comedian, she is used to that, but she never saw the betrayal of some people at CNN coming.

So Griffin couldn’t resist and took a swipe at CNN over the streaming debacle.

She said:

“Sooooo, I’m not doing New Year’s Eve on CNN+ with Chris Wallace?”
