Anti-Trump former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) has claimed that Americans who refuse to vote for Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris in November will “abandon the Constitution.”
Cheney made the claim during an interview on ABC News’s “This Week” over the weekend.
ABC anchor Jonathan Karl asked Cheney about her recent decision to endorse Democrat Harris over Republican President Donald Trump.
Cheney’s endorsement of the vice president comes despite her repeated past warnings about Harris.
She has previously accused Harris of being too far-left and dangerous on numerous issues.
“Kamala Harris is a radical liberal who would raise taxes, take away guns & health insurance, and explode the size and power of the federal gov’t,” Cheney warned in 2020.
“She wants to recreate America in the image of what’s happening on the streets of Portland & Seattle.
“We won’t give her the chance.”
Blinded by anti-Trump sentiment, Cheney now claims:
“Those of us who are conservative, those of us who believe in fidelity to the Constitution have a responsibility and have a duty to recognize, this is not about partisan politics, and the country is going to need to rebuild true conservative movement when we’re through this election cycle.
“But this November, casting a vote for Donald Trump or writing someone in means that you’ve made the decision in too many instances that so many elected Republicans have made which is to abandon the Constitution to tell yourself that this is just simply, you know, a partisan choice.
“That’s not what we’re facing this time around.”

The decision from Cheney to endorse a Democrat over a Republican in the presidential race has provoked a backlash among real conservatives.
On Saturday, former Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) weighed in on Cheney’s endorsement of Harris during Tucker Carlson’s Live Tour show in Colorado Springs.
Gabbard, a congresswoman-turned-conservative commentator, is an Army Reserve officer and has for years been outspoken in condemning the Washington national security state’s lust for war.
She sat down with Carlson just after former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz, both “lifelong Republicans,” issued full-throated endorsements of Kamala Harris for president.
While endorsing Harris, they also blasted Trump as a “depraved human being.”
In his Saturday statement, Dick Cheney said:
“In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.”
Gabbard blasted the endorsement and the fact that Harris said she was honored and proud to receive it from the Cheney family.
She pointed out that Dick Cheney was the architect of two decades of failed wars in the Middle East.
“I have a very simple message for my Democrat friends, my independent friends, and those who may not be sure about who they’re voting for in this election,” Gabbard said.
“Dick Cheney has just made the choice very clear…
“A vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for Dick Cheney, the architect of everything that has gone wrong in the Middle East for the last few decades,” Gabbard emphasized.
“Her [Harris’] response to the Dick Cheney announcement today was that she was honored to have his endorsement, and we got military veterans in the house, got a lot of you who probably served in the Middle East like I did, and so it sickened me.”
Gabbard continued, “Tucker, to read those words today from Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney, and Kamala Harris because we have people who we care very much about who were killed in those wars because of Dick Cheney.”
“Kamala Harris has told us all we need to know about what kind of Commander-in-Chief she would be, and I don’t know about you, but I would not trust her for a moment with the lives of my brothers and sisters in uniform,” she concluded.
