Liz Cheney Denies Leaking Anti-Trump Kevin McCarthy Recording

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is denying that she leaked an anti-Trump recording of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Cheney is accused of trying to get revenge on McCarthy by leaking an audio recording of a conversation among GOP leadership after the Jan. 6 riot.

The recording was leaked to far-left MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and appears to show McCarthy making conflicting statements.

A Cheney spokesperson said: “The select committee has asked Kevin McCarthy to speak with us about these events but he has so far declined.

“Representative Cheney did not record or leak the tape and does not know how the reporters got it.”

A new book claims McCarthy was going to ask Trump to resign after Jan 6.

The GOP leader denied the allegation, saying: “The New York Times’ reporting on me is totally false and wrong.

“It comes as no surprise that the corporate media is obsessed with doing everything it can to further a liberal agenda.

“This promotional book tour is no different.

“If the reporters were interested in the truth why would they ask for comment after the book was printed?”

Hours after McCarthy made that statement, Rachel Maddow had the authors of the book on her show.

They played a recording of McCarthy apparently saying he thought the impeachment would pass and Trump may get convicted in the Senate.

As a result, McCarthy says he was going to ask Trump to resign.

“The only discussion I would have with him is that I think this will pass, and it would be my recommendation you should resign,” McCarthy said in the audio.

“But what I think I’m going to do is I’m going to call him,” McCarthy said.

He added about Trump’s impeachment:

“This, this is what I think: We know that it’ll pass the House.

“I think there’s a chance it’ll pass the Senate, even when he’s gone.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is not buying that Cheney did not leak the recording, saying today:

“While I was rallying in Wyoming against Liz Cheney, Kevin McCarthy was defending Liz Cheney among House Republicans.

“While Liz Cheney was secretly recording Kevin McCarthy for the New York Times.

“@GOPLeader – you should have trusted my instincts, not your own.”
