Man Arrested for Threatening to Kidnap and Murder Trump

A South Carolina man has been arrested on federal charges after he allegedly threatened to kidnap and murder President Donald Trump.

47-year-old Travis Keith Lang of Irmo, South Carolina, appeared in a Columbia federal courthouse on Friday after his arrest on Thursday.

Facing federal charges, Lang pleaded not guilty but was denied bond.

According to WLTX-TV, he is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

A federal indictment, filed on Tuesday, accuses Lang of threatening to “take the life of, to kidnap, and to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States.”

The U.S. Secret Service is leading the investigation into the allegations.

Secret Service Communications Chief Anthony Guglielmi emphasized the agency’s commitment to protecting officials.

In a statement, Guglielmi said:

“Ensuring the safety of the President and all of our protectees is not just a duty for the Secret Service – it is a responsibility we uphold with unwavering commitment.

“We are grateful to our special agents and support teams for their work and especially the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for their partnership and invaluable assistance in this case.”

Guglielmi also urged the public to report any potential threats against public officials, stressing that vigilance and cooperation are key to maintaining security.

He added, “We also urge anyone with knowledge of potential threats against public officials to immediately report these to local law enforcement.

“Vigilance and cooperation are critical to maintaining the security of those who serve our nation.”

Lang is set to appear in court again on March 14 for a bond hearing.

In 2023, Lang registered with the Federal Election Commission (FC) as a Republican presidential candidate.

However, he did not appear on any primary ballots.

Records show his campaign received only one donation—$6,000 from himself.

The South Carolina Daily Gazette, citing the U.S. Attorney’s Office, reported that Lang could face up to five years in prison if convicted.

Lang’s social media presence remains active, with his Facebook page still displaying “Travis Lang for President.”

His profile picture is a composite of his face and Abraham Lincoln.

Lang has been vocal in his criticism of former President Joe Biden, previously calling for his impeachment on Facebook.

A U.S. attorney revealed that Lang had made multiple threats against both Biden and Trump.

The Secret Service had reportedly warned him in the past to stop making such threats.

Lang later referenced this visit on social media, suggesting it was politically motivated.

Lang’s case follows two assassination attempts on Trump last year.

In July, Trump was grazed by a bullet during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
