In news that will likely strike fear in the hearts of Democrats, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has donated a whopping $1 million to President Donald Trump’s inaugural fund.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the donation was made by Zuckerberg’s Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
However, the move is something neither Meta nor CEO Zuckerberg did for Trump’s inaugural fund in 2017 or President Joe Biden’s in 2021.
The big money donation comes just two weeks after Zuckerberg dined with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida.
The surprise meeting brought the Big Tech billionaire and the president-elect closer in what was once a fraught relationship.
One person familiar with the donation reportedly said Zuckerberg’s team spoke with the inaugural fund before the Mar-a-Lago dinner.
The source added that the social media tycoon has told business leaders that he is optimistic about a Trump presidency.
Stephen Miller, appointed deputy chief of staff for Trump’s second term, revealed that Zuckerberg expressed a newfound support for Trump during the meeting.
Miller told Fox News that Zuckerberg had “made clear that he wants to support the national renewal of America under Trump’s leadership.”
Trump has named Brendan Carr as his choice to lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
However, this choice has frightened those in the federal government who colluded with Big Tech and partisan “fact-checkers” to censor the American people.
The aptly named “advertising cartel” – tasked with censoring, de-monetizing, and otherwise silencing those who question the official narratives – will also likely be a target of the Trump administration.
In August, Zuckerberg sent a letter to Congress accusing President Joe Biden’s administration of pressuring his company to censor users.
He claimed that, in 2021, the Biden admin “repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain Covid content, including humor and satire.”
This was around the time Trump warned Zuckerberg and anyone else who illegally interfered in the election would be jailed for life if he won the presidency.
Social media users have been responding to the news of the donation.
Trump supporters and liberals alike have suggested Zuckerberg had at last bent the knee to the president-elect.
“Kiss the Ring..1st to roll over gets the best deal,” wrote one Trump supporter.
“This is hilarious to watch, first he dpend 400,000K to keep him out now he thinks a million will absolve him”
“Are we surprised?” added a liberal.
“These CEOs need to play ball game if they don’t want to deal with the child that Trump is.”
One referenced Trump’s threat to put the Meta boss in jail:
“Zuckerberg had an epiphany that made him realize he better ‘kiss the ring’ in order to avoid prosecution.
“The leopard does not change his spots!”
“Mark Zuckerberg is everything wrong with social media tech bros,” wrote another Trump supporter.
“Dude donated $450 million to get Joe Biden elected and then turns around and gives a million to Trump’s inauguration fund.
“Mark is a snake and I’ll be a little disappointed if Trump brings him into the circle.”
During this year’s election, Zuckerberg notably did not offer any endorsement.
However, he did praise Trump’s response to the Butler assassination attempt as “badass” when asked about endorsing a candidate.
During an interview at Meta HQ in Menlo Park, California, in July, Zuckerberg appeared emotional as he recalled the attempt on Trump’s life.
“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said.
“On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight,” the Facebook founder added.
“And I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy.”
