Massive Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion in Oklahoma Triggers 500-Foot Fireball

A massive fireball has lit up the sky in Oklahoma after a natural gas pipeline was destroyed by a huge explosion.

The Tuesday night explosion triggered the fireball that reached hundreds of feet into the air near the Texas-Oklahoma border.

The pipeline fire occurred near Laverne, Oklahoma.

The explosion was reported to have happened around 9:45 pm local time.

Local media KVII-TV reports emergency responders from across the area, including the Booker Fire Department in neighboring Texas, responded to the blaze.

“Crews from several departments are staged at a safe distance until the gas can be turned off,” Booker Fire Department said in an update.

Footage uploaded on social media shows the terrifying fireball erupting from the pipeline.

Several media outlets have said flames reached as high as 500 feet.

A security camera, several miles from the scene, also captured the moment the explosion lit up the night sky.

According to the fire department, the affected part of the NatGas pipeline must be depressurized before firefighting crews can tackle the fire.
