Mike Pence’s 2024 Campaign Doomed after Shredding from Tucker Carlson

After star news anchor Tucker Carlson shredded Mike Pence’s neocon talking points during a Republican presidential forum on Friday in Iowa, the former vice president has just received news of a potential death blow to his campaign.

Six GOP candidates looking to obtain the coveted Republican National Committee (RNC) nomination joined Carlson on stage for a 25-minute one-on-one conversation: Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis.

Notably missing from the forum was President Donald Trump, who said he was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.

Once onstage, international affairs were a key sticking point.

As Slay News reported, Carlson shamed Pence for backing the endless war in Ukraine while the quality of life sinks for many Americans.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Vice President,” Carlson said to Pence.

“You are distressed that the Ukrainians don’t have enough American tanks?

“Every city in the United States has become much worse over the past three years.

“Drive around. There’s not one city that’s gotten better. And it’s visible.

“Our economy has degraded, the suicide rate has jumped, public filth and disorder and crime have exponentially increased, and yet your concern is that the Ukrainians, a country most people can’t find on a map, don’t have enough tanks?

“I think it’s a fair question to ask: Where’s the concern for the United States in that?”

Pence received a widespread backlash for responding: “That’s not my concern.”

According to FiveThirtyEight, Pence is nominally in third place in the GOP primary race.

However, he has suffered a number of setbacks as of late, and one of those issues, his fundraising, is of grave concern.

With the GOP presidential hopefuls divulging their second-quarter fundraising numbers, it has become increasingly clear that there are two tiers of candidates — the ones who are moving on up and the ones who are stagnating.

Unfortunately for Pence, the ex-VP is not in the tier he wants to be in.

According to The New York Times, Pence’s campaign has raised an unimpressive $3.9 million.

Of that $3.9 million, $2.7 million comes from the Committed to America super PAC.

Meanwhile, Pence has also failed to receive 40,000 individual donations, an important threshold.

Candidates need to meet that minimum number of contributions to make it to the Republican primary debate stage.

So far, Pence is massively underperforming.

Pence and his team were surely hoping to be in the upper echelons of the GOP primary field, not at the back of the pack.

Speaking of those upper echelons, here are some rapid-fire numbers from the Times, just for comparison’s sake:

  • President Donald Trump: Raised $35 million in the second quarter
  • DeSantis: Raised about $20 million in the second quarter
  • Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley: Raised $7.7 million in the second quarter (between her and “her affiliated committees”)
  • South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott: Raised $6.1 million in the second quarter

Trump is now so far ahead that he’s in a tier by himself at the moment.

Unfortunately for Pence, donation woes are not the only campaign concern.

Pence is battling a PR nightmare regarding his highly publicized “that’s not my concern” comment to Carlson on Friday.

If his campaign doesn’t pick up steam soon, Pence’s 2024 bid will be over before it even got started.
