“Woke” Hollywood actor Billy Eichner has issued a furious response after his new movie, the first gay romantic comedy released by a major Hollywood studio, bombed at the box office.
His rom-com film, “Bros,” has been a major flop among moviegoers and critics, losing millions of dollars in its opening weekend.
However, Eichner is blaming “homophobic weirdos” and “straight people, especially in certain parts of the country,” for the dismal box office numbers.
Despite Eichner’s sense of entitlement, the movie did little business in much of middle America and the south.
Nevertheless, romantic comedies with a woman and a man are already unpopular among straight men so a gay version of the format was unlikely to change that.
As many are pointing out on social media, the epic flop of “Bros” proves, yet again, that when you go woke, you go broke.
Eichner said:
“Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold-out theater playing BROS in LA.
“The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end, and some were wiping away tears as they walked out.
“It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.
“[woke propaganda outlet] Rolling Stone already has BROS on the list of the best comedies of the 21st century.
“What’s also true is that at one point a theater chain called Universal said they were pulling the trailer because of the gay content. (Uni convinced them not to).
“America, f*ck yeah, etc etc.
“That’s just the world we live in, unfortunately.
“Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros.
“And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.
“Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight!
“You will have a blast! And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often.
“I love this movie so much. GO BROS!!!

“Bros,” billed as an all-gay comedy, is a box office disaster.
Total receipts for Thursday and Friday came to just $1.84 million.
With another $2.5 million coming on Saturday and Sunday, “Bros” stands to make less than $5 million for its entire opening weekend.
“Bros” doesn’t have a huge budget — $25 million at most. But the movie has had a tremendous amount of publicity and marketing, a blanketing that most films would give their popcorn up for.
This just means that the public at large had no interest in seeing not only a gay rom-com, but one with graphic sex scenes.
