MSNBC’s Donnie Deutsch gave up the game today on Morning Joe by switching targets from President Donald Trump to a new villain: Florida Governor Ron Desantis.
Donnie is terrified of the Florida governor and front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 if Trump does not run. He said DeSantis is even scarier than Donald Trump, which is catnip to the MSNBC audience because Ron is smarter than Trump and is more polished.
He said: “This DeSantis character is a scary dude. The Republican Party is becoming the anti-freedom party, the anti-American party, whether it’s a woman’s right to choose, gay rights, voting rights, we’re in scary territory.
“I believe DeSantis will be the next candidate. He won’t wait his turn; a candidate has a certain window when things are going their direction and he is amassing power.
“When you have basically, right now, a punishment against a corporation because a corporation just spoke their mind about what many people are very, very against in terms of the ‘Don’t say gay’ bill, we’re in scary territory and nobody is using the word ‘scary’ with this guy DeSantis.
“He’s scarier than Trump because he’s smarter than Trump and doesn’t give the other side the easy out of ‘this guy is a whackadoo and this guy is crazy.’
“Because he comes across in a much more well-heeled suit.
“He’s a very scary politician.”
Trump may run. Trump may win. But Trump has turned off a lot of people so if he runs it will be a dog fight.
But does anyone doubt DeSantis wouldn’t crush Biden or Kamala in a head-to-head matchup?
Biden is at 33% in some polls. If the conditions in the country do not improve drastically and remember a lot if this is out of his hands now. He pissed off the Saudis so they won’t help with energy prices and the money both parties threw at the pandemic caused inflation.
Biden almost made it worse with more spending but Manhciun blocked him.
This is an economic cycle Biden will have to ride out. He really doesn’t have a lot of options other than hope it works itself out before 2024.
If things are remotely the same in 2024, DeSantis, if he is the nominee, will win by a Reaganesque landslide.
Because Biden is underwater in deep blue states. He is underwater with most demo groups. Not all of it is because of the Dems infighting and seeming inability to get anything done.
You have to remember who Joe Biden is. A career politician who the American public rejected multiple times in presidential primaries.
He is probably a nice guy to have a beer with but he is a terrible public speaker who makes people turn the channel.
People voted against Trump, not for Joe Biden. And the first chance they get to ditch the guy they will take.
And that is the real reason DeSantis is scarier than Trump to the MSNBC crowd.
