NBC ‘Fact-Check’: Only ‘Half True’ That DeSantis Flew Americans Back from Israel as He Didn’t Fly Planes Himself

NBC News has produced a shameless “fact-check” of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s claim that he arranged for hundreds of American citizens to be flown back from Israel after the Hamas terror attacks on October 7.

According to the “news” outlet, DeSantis wasn’t telling the whole truth because he arranged the flights and supplied the funding but didn’t personally fly the planes himself.

NBC argues that DeSantis’s claim is only “half true” because someone else piloted the planes.

In an article titled, “Fact check: Did DeSantis evacuate Americans out of Israel?” NBC “journalist” Peter W. Klein “fact-checked” the following claim by DeSantis:

“I sent planes over to Israel and I brought back over 700 people to safety.”

NBC News concludes that “this is half true” and explains:

“DeSantis signed an executive order that allowed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to pay for Americans in Israel to fly back to the U.S.

“The flights, however, were organized by Tampa-based nonprofit Project Dynamo, which specializes in rescuing Americans in distress, and DeSantis’ primary role was to fund the flights.”

While the network scrambles to dispel any notion that DeSantis personally flew the planes to Israel, the “fact-check” offers no information that would suggest DeSantis made claims that were only “half true.”

“I scrambled resources in Florida,” DeSantis said.

“I sent planes over to Israel and I brought back over 700 people to safety.”

He even made direct references to supplying “the resources” for the flights.

According to NBC, all parents who say that they “flew the kids home” for the holidays would be “half” lying.

For those parents to tell the whole truth, NBC is suggesting that they should say “I supplied money to allow my kids to purchase tickets to have United Airlines fly them home.”

However, it was not the company as a whole that piloted the jets so they would need to say “to have employees of United Airlines fly them home.”

For NBC, declaring this a half-truth is still preferable to saying that it is true.

This “half true” smear of the governor’s comments could easily be extended to his wider statements by Democrats and their corporate media allies.

Particularly when DeSantis’s statement was preceded by a criticism of Democrat President Joe Biden.

“Biden’s neglect has been atrocious, we had Floridians that were over there after the attack,” DeSantis asserted shortly before “lying” about piloting passenger jets.

“He left them stranded; they couldn’t get flights out.”

NBC’s effort is just the latest example of how the “fact-checking” agenda has been massively corrupted by the Left.

It’s likely a telling sign of how far corporate media hacks will be willing to go with the 2024 now less than a year away.
