New Mexico’s anti-Second Amendment Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has responded to the recent tragic shootings in Maine by demanding even more gun control.
As Slay News reported, Gov. Grisham signed an executive order last month to ban guns, violating the constitutional rights of citizens in her state.
Grisham, a Democrat, issued an emergency “public health” order to overrule the Second Amendment rights of the public.
The order, issued on September 8, suspended the open and concealed carry of firearms in the state’s largest city of Albuquerque for 30 days.
A U.S. District Judge blocked the order on September 13.
However, Grisham then reworked the order, limiting the ban on concealed carry to parks and playgrounds, and it was allowed to stand.
Still not satisfied, the governor is now calling for more restrictions following the deadly shooting at two locations in Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday.
A manhunt for the gunman suspected of killing 18 people and injuring 13 others in Maine is still underway.
Helicopters have been sweeping miles of countryside while the Coast Guard patrols the Kennebec River.
Thousands of people were forced into an extended lockdown as police officers from local, state, and federal agencies combed a vast and largely rural region for answers.
On Thursday night, law enforcement agents executed search warrants at several properties in Bowdoin, about 30 minutes from the crime scenes.
The properties belong to the family of 40-year-old Robert R. Card II who police suspect is the gunman.
A spokeswoman for the state police said they now believe that Card is not on the property.
At the time of press, Card has not been located.
Gun-control advocates have been quick to use the tragedy to further their own radical agenda.
On Thursday, Democrat President Joe Biden responded to the shooting by demanding more gun control.
However, Card, the lead suspect, has known mental health issues and wouldn’t have been able to legally own firearms.
The measures being pushed by Democrats wouldn’t have stopped Card and would only hurt law-abiding gun owners.
Nevertheless, Democrats are not letting facts get in the way of a good opportunity and are leveraging the incident to their advantage.
Grisham is citing the attacks in Maine as she pushes for more gun control in her own state.
“I’m praying for the families & friends of the victims in the Maine shooting and for the quick apprehension of the suspect,” the governor said in a statement on Twitter/X.
“We need to know how this person had access to this firearm and enact appropriate common-sense gun laws to prevent these tragedies.
“This. Cannot. Continue.”

Grisham did not clarify which gun controls would be “appropriate” at this point, however.
It has not yet been revealed how the suspected shooter got his firearm.
If he obtained his guns illegally, then laws were already in place and they failed.
The type of firearm has not yet been confirmed either, despite Biden’s calls for a so-called “assault weapons” ban.
