Democrats in New York are launching a new effort to dissuade illegal border crossers from heading to NYC.
On Wednesday, Mayor Eric Adams announced plans to distribute flyers at the Southern Border to warn illegals to stay away from New York City.
Adams’ office claims the plan seeks to “combat misinformation at the border” by telling illegal aliens to “consider another city” instead of traveling to NYC.
The flyers will be in both Spanish and English and will warn foreigners who cross the border illegally that the “sanctuary city” of New York is not right for them.
The illegals will be warned that NYC is “one of the most expensive cities in the world” so they will be “better off” going somewhere else.
“NYC cannot help you obtain a work permit, and you will not be able to easily find work,” the flyer warns the mostly military-age male economic migrants flooding the border.
The one-page flyer, printed in both English and Spanish, warns “asylum seekers” that “you will not be placed in a hotel.”
“NYC is one of the most expensive cities in the world; you are better off going to a more affordable city,” the flyers adds.
The effort to dissuade migrants from coming to New York is the latest attempt to slow the rapid influx of some 100,000 people who have arrived in the city since the spring of 2022, overwhelming its shelter system and straining coffers.
The city pays $387 a day to shelter each migrant and estimates that caring for illegals will cost taxpayers $12 billion through mid-2025, according to Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, Mayor Adams has provided tents for some illegals while busing some out of the city to other parts of the state.
Adams also plans to turn away new arrivals and not give them any shelter or work opportunities either.
In addition, New York’s Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul has been outspoken too.
“If you’re going to leave your country, go somewhere else,” Hochul said in a warning to illegals.

Tens of thousands of illegal aliens have already flooded New York City.
The illegals are taking over hotels, schools, and homeless shelters.
As Slay News reported, Mayor Adams recently told New Yorkers that the crisis will “destroy” the city.
