Former National Football League (NFL) star Devon Wylie has tragically died at just 35 years old, his family has announced.
The sudden death of the young former player is a major, tragic loss for the NFL and the professional sports world.
According to Breitbart, Wylie’s family stated that the former wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs died unexpectedly.
Wylie also played football for California State University, according to reports.
The former pro football player’s family released a saddening statement announcing the death of their loved one.
They praised Wylie for his contributions on and off the field.
“We wanted to make this post so people who knew and loved Devon could learn of his passing because we don’t have the capacity to reach out to everyone in this hard time,” the statement read, according to a Fresno, California news outlet.
“There are no words to express the sadness that comes from losing a brother, dear friend, and an amazing uncle.
“Devon had so much love and joy to give.
“Always making people laugh and entertaining us with his football skills, guitar jams, silly jokes and voices, back-flip tricks, fun banter Star Wars obsession chat, Halo nights, and not to mention his beautiful smile.”
“We will miss him always,” the statement adds.
Fresno State Football released a statement honoring the former wide receiver, adding a picture of him for remembrance.

During his football career, Wylie was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft with the 107th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs.
He spent the next three seasons playing for nine different teams.

He and played in six regular season games for the Kansas City team before they released him the following year.
In 2013, he signed by the Tennessee Titans and played two games for them before they released him as well.
Wylie is yet another “sudden” death situation in the sports world.
His unexpected death is especially concerning given his relatively young age.
