Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has now declared that she will not abide by the loyalty pledge that she took when she entered the GOP’s 2024 primary debates.
Haley, the Democrats’ preferred candidate, made the claim during an appearance on NBC News’s “Meet The Press.”
In case you missed it, the Republican National Committee (RNC) made all of the presidential candidates who participated in their debates take a vow to support whichever candidate ends up winning the GOP’s presidential nomination.
Haley, and all the other candidates who took part in the debates, signed the pledge.
At this point, it is looking extremely likely that the Republican nominee will be President Donald Trump.
Trump, however, didn’t sign the pledge because he didn’t take part in the debates.
Not only does he continue to dominate the polls, but he is also dominating the Republican primaries.
Haley is Trump’s only remaining Republican “rival” left in these primaries.
It has not been much of a rivalry because, as stated, Trump is dominating.
However, she is refusing to step down and allow the party to move forward with Trump, for reasons unclear to most.
Haley participated in the Republican Party debates, and, in doing so, she pledged to support the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.
Now, however, she is going back on her word.
During her NBC appearance, Haley was asked whether she feels compelled to honor the pledge that she took.
“No. I think I’ll make what decision I want to make,” Haley said.
She went on to claim that she now feels okay with breaking the pledge because “the RNC is now not the same RNC” as it was at the time she entered into the agreement.
There is only one thing that Haley could be referring to here, namely, Ronna McDaniel’s resignation from the RNC’s leadership position and Trump’s attempt to put an ally in the chairwoman’s seat.
On Sunday, Trump responded to the news that Haley will no longer honor her agreement with the RNC.
The 45th president did so in a social media message that he posted on Truth Social.
In the message, Trump used his favorite nickname for Haley – “Birdbrain.”
“Birdbrain is a loser, record low performance in virtually every State,” Trump wrote.
“DeSanctus easily beat her in Iowa for a VERY DISTANT second place, and then she ran up to the podium, before he had a chance to do so, and claimed victory.”
By “DeSanctus,” Trump was referring to Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Trump concluded, “I enjoy watching the Bird disavow her PLEDGE to the RNC and her statement that she would NEVER run against President Trump (“A great President”).
“Well, she ran, she lied, and she LOST BIG!”
