Fox News reporter Peter Doocy grilled White House press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Vice President Kamala Harris’s switching fake accents on the campaign trail.
Harris, the Democrat presidential nominee, has been accused of adopting a fake “southern accent” as she tries to appeal to black voters.
On some occasions, Harris has been accused of impersonating Barack Obama.
While she was campaigning in Detroit this week, Harris changed her accent when the same lines were compared to her speech in Pittsburgh.
Videos highlighting the difference on social media have led to people accusing Harris of pandering.
During the White House press briefing on Tuesday, Doocy sought answers about the switching voice.
“Since when does the vice president have what sounds like a Southern accent?” Doocy asked Jean-Pierre.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she claimed, despite the viral videos on social media and an online backlash over Harris’s fake accent.
“Do you think Americans seriously think this is an important question?”
Jean-Pierre continued to dismiss the question and suggested Americans don’t care about Harris’ accents.
She insisted Americans are more concerned about the economy — which, under the Biden-Harris administration, hit record-high inflation in 2022 and continues to struggle.
The press secretary said Doocy’s question “sounds so ridiculous.”
Doocy fired back to suggest that hearing Harris’s accent might be what’s ridiculous.
“Well, but, hearing it, is –,” Doocy said.
“The question, just the question is insane,” Jean-Pierre interrupted.
“Is that how she talks in meetings here?” Doocy followed up, unable to get an answer.

Videos shared on social media highlight Harris’s use of a fake accent and make for uncomfortable viewing.
“You better thank a union member for sick leave, you better thank a union member for paid leave, you better thank a union member for vacation time,” Harris said at the rallies in Detroit and Pittsburgh.
Both rallies were held mere hours apart on Monday.
While saying the line in Detroit, Harris clearly adopted a southern drawl, which many online said sounds like a fake “black accent.”

In Detroit, she used an accent that sounded “southern,” while in Pittsburgh, she used the accent she always uses.

She also told the Detroit crowd, “Let’s just get through the next 64 days, how ’bout that?”
While in Pittsburgh, though, Harris said, “So friends, 64 days until the most … election of our lives.”
