Left-wing independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has reportedly asked Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris to consider him for a cabinet position if she wins the November election.
Kennedy, a lifelong Democrat, is seeking to join a potential Harris presidential administration in exchange for throwing his support behind her campaign.
RFK Jr.’s campaign as an independent has recently cratered after registering some interest at the start of the primary season.
His alleged groveling to the Democrat presidential nominee is surprising considering his previous comments about the Biden-Harris administration.
Earlier this year, Kennedy declared that the Biden-Harris administration was a “much worse threat to democracy” than President Donald Trump.
He noted that the Biden-Harris administration was the first in history to weaponize federal agencies against their opponents.
“We’ve reached out repeatedly through the highest level intermediaries,” RFK told The New York Times in a text message.
“We’ve been told that they have no interest in talking with me.”
It is highly unlikely that Harris would engage with RFK Jr., however.
Kennedy is helping Harris by staying in the race, the report said.
It continues by noting that public and private polling has shown that Kennedy began to siphon away support from Trump as he ramped up his attacks on Biden.
The report said that Harris “does better” in polls when Kennedy is included than when she is tested in a head-to-head matchup with Trump.
According to the NY Times report:
“Public and private polling has found that as he spent the summer attacking President Biden, he began to draw more support from voters otherwise predisposed to back former President Donald J. Trump.
“Now Ms. Harris does better in some surveys when Mr. Kennedy is included than when she is tested in a head-to-head matchup with Mr. Trump.”
“I’ve always argued that we should be willing to talk with each other across party lines,” Kennedy reportedly added.
“I’m willing to meet with leaders of both parties to discuss the possibility of a unity government.”
Kennedy holds far-Left views on a variety of issues.
As Slay News reported, those views include wanting to allow abortions up until the moment of birth.
He wants to jail “climate change” skeptics and has said that he would sign a bill to ban semi-automatic firearms.
Additionally, Kennedy has vowed to cut funding to the U.S. military by half while China rapidly expands its military.
