RFK Jr Picks Radical Leftist Democrat Megadonor as Running Mate

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has just confirmed that his running mate for the 2024 presidential election is Nicole Shanahan – a far-left megadonor who has donated heavily to President Joe Biden, Democrats, and radical leftist causes.

Speculation has been mounting over Kennedy’s choice as the vice presidential candidate for his campaign.

Rumors had been swirling that he planned to pick Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google founder Sergey Brin, in recent weeks.

On Tuesday, the Wall Street Jornal confirmed that 38-year-old Shanahan is Kennedy’s pick for running mate.

In addition to being an attorney, Shanahan runs a foundation dedicated to radical causes like abortion rights, “criminal justice reform,” and fighting “climate change.”

According to the Journal, Shanahan has a long history of funding Democrat campaigns before joining forces with Kennedy.

Her donations include Biden’s 2020 presidential run and the campaign of George Soros-funded Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.

Kennedy is expected to formally introduce Shanahan as his running mate during an event scheduled for Tuesday in Oakland, California – Shanahan’s hometown.

RFK Jr. has tried to position himself as a truly independent candidate after switching from running as a Democrat in October 2023.

At the time, he said:

“I must declare my own independence.

“Independence from the Democratic Party. …

“And from all other political parties.”

Shanahan does not exactly sit in the middle, having a history of supporting Democrats.

She has donated thousands to Biden’s last campaign.

According to the New York Times:

Ms. Shanahan, who was once married to the Google co-founder Sergey Brin, has a history of making donations to Democratic campaigns, including to President Biden’s 2020 run.

But she gave to Mr. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in May 2023, when he was running as a Democrat.

More specifically, it appears Shanahan gave $30,000 to the Biden campaign in 2020, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data.

She also has made several donations to ActBlue, the Democrat fundraising arm.

Shanahan has also donated to the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Additionally, Shanahan has a history of supporting far-left “criminal justice” initiatives.

Aside from donating to pro-crime LA prosecutor Gascón, Shanahan has also donated to efforts that seek to defund the justice system and close prisons.

In 2021, she revealed in San Francisco Magazine that she is a “major donor for Measure J in Los Angeles County.”

According to a summary, Measure J “amends the County charter, requiring at least 10% of locally generated, unrestricted revenue be reinvested into community development and alternatives to incarceration.”

It also “prohibits using funds for carceral systems and law enforcement agencies.”

In the same interview, Shanahan also praised the Black Lives Matter movement and described “criminal justice reform” as “one of the biggest topics of our generation.”

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk also pointed out that Shanahan’s backing of Gascón and the radical pro-crime agenda is a major issue for conservatives.

In a post on X, Kirk noted that Shanahan is a “six-figure donor to… George Gascon, the pro-crime, Soros-backed prosecutor who helped wreck San Francisco and is currently wrecking LA.”

He concluded she is a “far-left pick by RFK, who is apparently looking to shore up his progressive bona fides.”

“Major red flag for commonsense independents and centrist voters who are also sick of rising crime but intrigued by his campaign,” he added.

There has been speculation that Kennedy’s run could cause problems for either Biden or President Donald Trump by luring their voters away.

However, Kennedy’s choice of Shanahan as a running mate will be a major blow to Biden and the Democrats.

As RFK Jr.’s campaign veers off to the far Left, it’s now extremely unlikely that conservatives would be tempted away from Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.

Had Kennedy chosen a centrist or a moderate Republican as his running mate, it may have helped his bipartisan appeal.

However, it seems likely now that Shanahan could turn off conservatives who weren’t willing to see Kennedy’s left-wing radicalism before, further threatening Biden.

The summer of violent leftist rioting that is expected before the November election could end up benefiting Kennedy and backfiring on Biden and the Democrats.
