Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis took a veiled swipe at Democrat President Joe Biden today.
Gov. DeSantis was speaking during a press conference where he dispelled a few Democrat-driven media myths about him and his state.
DeSantis was asked about Democrats like U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who tried, and failed, to spread false claims that the governor was missing in action.
DeSantis turned the tables on the reporter and called out Biden instead.
“I guess I should’ve been at the beach in Delaware, right, and then they would have been really happy with that,” DeSantis said in reference to recent reports that Joe Biden was spotted alone on a beach wearing a mask.
“Look, we actually put out the schedule and I think these people didn’t know that.
“I was down in Miami later Thursday in the office working on this and some other stuff…
“If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man.
“Let me tell you… I mean Congresspeople, Mayors, Governors.
“It’s interesting though the reception that some of these folks get in Florida because a lot of Floridians are saying wait a minute, you’re bashing us because we aren’t doing your draconian policies yet we are the first place you flee to to be able to enjoy life.”

AOC faslely claimed that DeSantis was “missing,” when he was actually taking his wife to get cancer treatments and his publicly-available schedule showed he was still carrying out his duties as normal.
“Hasn’t Gov. DeSantis been inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks?” she said on Twitter.
“If he’s around, I would be happy to say hello. His social media team seems to have been posting old photos for weeks.
“In the meantime, perhaps I could help with local organizing. Folks are quite receptive here.
I’d also be happy to share some notes from @GovKathyHochul’s work in NY since he seems to be in need of tips!”
Democratic Mayor Jerry Demings of Orange County in Florida also went after DeSantis saying:
“Our residents, all Florida residents should be outraged, and they should ask the question, ‘Now, where’s our state?
“Where’s our governor? Where is Ron DeSantis now?
“When was the last time you saw the governor do a press briefing regarding COVID-19?”
