DeSantis Throws Cold Water on 2024 Speculation: ‘People Just Need to Chill Out a Little Bit’

Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has thrown cold water on the media-driven speculation that he intends to run for president in 2024.

On Wednesday, Gov. DeSantis told reporters that he’s too focused on Florida, after only winning reelection last week, to think about the White House.

He also argued that the focus for Republicans should be on the critical Georgia run-off election.

President Donald Trump announced his presidential campaign last night.

Others have dropped major hints they plan on entering the race.

“We just finished this election, people just need to chill out a little bit,” DeSantis said while responding to questions about his presidential ambitions.

“We have this Georgia runoff coming, it’s very important for Republicans to win that Georgia runoff.

“I mean, I know around the country, Florida was kind of the biggest bright spot, it was not so bright in other parts of the country.

“It was a substandard performance, given the dynamics that are at play.”

A reporter asked DeSantis yesterday about Trump’s comments:  “So we would like to know what you think about Trump’s big announcement and some of the less than flattering comments he has made about you.”

“Well, you know, one of the things I’ve learned, like learn in this job is when you’re do, when you’re leading, when you’re getting, getting things done, yeah, you take incoming fire,” DeSantis replied.

“That’s just the nature of it. I roll out of bed in the morning. I’ve got corporate media outlets that have a spasm.

“Just the fact that I’m getting up in the morning.

“And it’s constantly attacking and this is just what’s happened.

“I don’t think any governor got attacked more, particularly by corporate media, than me over my four-year term.

“And yet I think what you, what you learn is all that’s just noise.

“And really what matters is, are you leading?

“Are you getting in front of issues?

“Are you delivering results for people and are you standing up for folks?

“And if you do that, then none of that stuff matters.

“And that’s what we’ve done.

“We focused on results and leadership.

“And, you know, at the end of the day, I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night.

“And the fact of the matter is, you know, the fact of the matter is, we, it was the greatest Republican victory in the history of the state of Florida,” he said.
