Soccer Star Abdelaziz Barrada Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack at 35

The soccer world is in mourning after officials confirmed that international player Abdelaziz Barrada tragically died suddenly.

Barrada suffered a fatal heart attack on Thursday, according to local media in his native Morocco.

The former Marseille star was just 35 years old when he died.

Marseille has now confirmed Barrada’s sudden death with an emotional post on X.

The post from the top French soccer club states:

“Rest in peace Abdelaziz. Olympique de Marseille learned with sadness of the death of its former player and Moroccan international, Abdelaziz Barrada.

“Arriving in the summer of 2014, the attacking midfielder wore the colors of OM for two seasons.

“The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to his family and share in the grief of his loved ones.”

Tributes have been flooding in on social media.

Morroco star player Amine Harit posted:

“Abdelaziz Barrada may Allah have mercy on you support his loved ones.”

Fabrizio Romano said:

“Terrible news as former Morocco national team player Abdelaziz Barrada has passed away aged 35.”

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Football Club, where Barrada played for the B-team, said:

“Paris Saint-Germain is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Abdelaziz Barrada, Moroccan international and a product of the Club’s academy, on Thursday evening.

“The Club extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Barrada started out his club career with Senart-Moissey before moving to PSG in 2007.

He would never crack the first team with the Parisian giants and moved on to Getafe in 2010.

Barrada would also turn out for Marseille, Antalyaspor, Gimnastic, and Lusitanos Saint-Maur in Europe, hanging up his boots at the latter in 2021.

He went on to make 26 appearances for Morocco’s national soccer team.

Barrada scored four goals, over a three-year spell with the international side.

He also represented his country at the London 2012 Olympics.
