Justice Sotomayor Overrules Democrats, Praises Clarence Thomas: ‘A Man Who Cares Deeply’

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has overruled the Democrats’ base and praised her fellow SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas as he comes under attack from the Left.

Speaking at the American Constitution Society on Thursday, Sotomayor said Thomas is a “man who cares deeply about the court as an institution.”

She added that, despite not always agreeing, the two “share a common understanding about people and kindness towards them.”

“Justice Thomas is the one justice in the building that literally knows every employee’s name, every one of them,” she said.

“And not only does he know their names, he remembers their families’ names and histories.

“He’s the first one who will go up to someone when you’re walking with him and say, ‘Is your son okay? How’s your daughter doing in college?’

“He’s the first one that, when my stepfather died, sent me flowers in Florida.

“It was Justice Thomas who tells me that when he first came to the Court, another justice approached him and said, ‘I judge you by what you do here. Welcome.’

“And I repeated that story to Justice Kavanaugh when I first greeted him here.

“When you’re charged with working together for most of the remainder of your life, you have to create a relationship.

“The nine of us are now a family and we’re a family with each of us having our own burdens and our own obligations to others, but this is our work family, and it’s just as important as our personal family.”

This comes as Ginni Thomas, Clarence’s wife, is facing some scrutiny from the Democrats’ anti-Trump Jan. 6 Committee.

“We have sent Ms. Thomas a letter, asking her to come and talk to the committee,” Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Democratic chairman of the panel, told reporters after a three-hour public hearing Thursday.

He didn’t specify a time or date for an interview.

The chairman said her name could also come up at some point in the panel’s hearings that are being held throughout June.

Earlier in the day, Thompson and committee vice-chair Liz Cheney had both said it was time for her to come in voluntarily and provide testimony with the nine-member panel after investigators discovered information that refers to Thomas — known as Ginni — in communications they have obtained relating to one of Trump’s lawyers, John Eastman.

In response, Thomas told the conservative news site Daily Caller on Thursday that she “can’t wait to clear up misconceptions,” suggesting she would comply with a request to testify.
